The Bug Out Bag (also: bugout bag, B.O.B.) is probably not the best place to start with preparedness. You are simply much more likely to stay in your home, and in most cases better off for doing so. But the B.O.B. is what sparked me into preparedness years ago. If it gets you started and ultimately gets you more prepared, then it's a fine place to start. Secondly, bug out bags are often geared toward dreams of "heading for the hills," and "living off the land."
