“Art can bring a message as nothing else can.” For more than forty years artist Wyland has been communicating his love of the ocean and its inhabitants through his artwork. Sitting down with his old friend Greg Stone, Wyland describes how working with millions of kids throughout the world painting life-size murals of the creatures of the sea has created a new generation of advocates for the ocean. “My investment has always been with young people, if we can share what we know through art and science, we can inspire them to become ambassadors to our planet.” Wyland has completed his mission to create 100 “Whaling Walls” across the globe to raise awareness about the wonder of the ocean’s resources. His next project is to create 100 monumental sculptures in 100 great cities, with ten being underwater. An ambitious agenda? Yes! But Wyland has always thought big. Just marvel at his life-size whales on a wall near you!
