It’s the tale of the first, hectic night of the long running NBC skit comedy show Saturday Night Live. While not being 100% accurate, it is very informative and extremely entertaining with good performances of the legendary comedians and others involved in the creation of this American icon. Jay is Enjoying the HBO dramatic series The Penguin, an origin story of the classic DC comics Batman villain. But the origins and creators of these fears are way scarier than what might have been actual practicing witches. A written record of a witch dates back almost 3000 years ago. In the mid 1400s some really ignorant and cowardly men wrote a book that created a hysteria of violence towards women who they accused of practicing witchcraft (whether they were or not)   Have we become wiser and more evolved today? Well, probably not. But we have a ton of witch characters in TV, books, and movies that can entertain us and even make us question the wisdom of how we treat others. Classic characters like Elphaba and Glenda from Wizard of Oz have lasted generations. Cartoon favorites like Maleficent, Broomhilda, and Sabrina gave us opportunities to laugh at the characters as kids.    Then, at the end of the 20th century, the characters in Harry Potter truly showed that witches could be powerful heroes. It really changed people’s perspectives of witches in our culture. Now we see them pop up in all kinds of different ways, both good and bad. We have no doubt that witches’ legendary status will last forever.  Which witch do you watch? Who's your favorite? His humor was spotlighted on the series SCTV and expanded into the movies. Sometimes he played secondary characters, but other times he played a lovable and bumbling hero that we loved to root for. His life ended way too early, but he left us with some great comedy to enjoy for years to come.    Since we are closer and closer to Halloween, we pair some of the most popular candies with some of John Candy’s best movies. He watched The Wizard of Oz for the first time in years. Turns out it’s still a good movie and really quite creepy. It’s easy to find and a definite classic you should revisit (or check out for the first time) Shua and his wife ventured out to a movie night at the Alamo. Without many expectations, they were pleasantly surprised by the newest animated interpretation of a classic toy, Transformers One. With a good story, an all-star cast, and great animation, it really put everything together in an entertaining way.      Enjoy Music!  We love our space songs. Not soundtracks from sci-fi (although those are great too) but songs that artists have written specifically about space. This week we examine some of our favorites throughout history.     Growing up we loved to experience edgy comedy without getting too edgy ourselves. That's why Cheech and Chong were so popular to us. So come on a journey of nice dreams and Enjoy Stuff!   On this 4th season and 20th episode of Enjoy Stuff we look back at two ‘buds’ that have been making people laugh for years. Cheech and Chong!   News Ewan MacGregor gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Brian May recovering from a stroke, but celebrates his recovery by opening a new Queen album The Time Bandits reboot has been cancelled after only one season   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Shua jumped head first into the pile of bricks that is LEGO Star Wars Rebuilding the Galaxy. He can give it his recommendation as a fun Star Wars story and a fun LEGO parody. There’s some fun new characters that you’ll grow to enjoy and some great cameos from Star Wars favorites. Check it out on Disney+. Jay is enjoying the second season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It has a more epic feel and is giving a very entertaining interpretation of Tolkien’s Middle Earth backstory of the origin of the rings and of Sauron.      Enjoy Movies!  Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong met in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1969, and started a friendship that lasts to today. They found they had a similar sense of humor and began improv together. They expanded to opening for others, and eventually headlining large venues. Their movies aren’t deep, and often centered around infantile and drug humor, but it influenced a lot of people and set us on the path of understanding…well, a little. We still don’t understand the Corsican Brothers. Whether you loved them or hated them, they have been an important part of our culture and the comedy world.    What’s your opinion on Cheech and Chong? Where’s dave? With rumors of a season 4 possible, now’s a great time to go back and check out the jokes and the heart of the show starring Jason Sudeikis and a variety of very talented actors. Ted Lasso can be found on AppleTV+.  Shua is enjoying the new season of Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. He’s not surprised that it’s good, but it’s been especially touching this season and still hysterical. Only Murders in the Building is on Hulu.      Enjoy Movies!  Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice is a sequel 36 years in the making. Opinions seem to be varied on how enjoyable it is. But we are going to take a look at the positive aspects of checking it out. We’ll start off by looking back at our experiences from the original. What did we think of it back then? Why was it so popular? We’ll analyze our feelings from all those years ago. Then we’ll look at everything that came after, such as the animated series and the video games. September 13 is officially Bald is Beautiful Day, so Jay and Shua get out the polishing cloths and celebrate the beauty and comfort of looking like Mr. Clean.    News Weird Al updating all his music videos to HD/4k on YouTube over last couple weeks No longer just a gatekeeper, Sigourney Weaver has been cast in the Mandalorian and Grogu movie AMC theaters is offering "Haunted" Icee for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Now, thanks to Hyundai, you can ride around in that most popular of 80s cars, the black sedan, but be nice to the environment.  We know you’ve always wanted to try a convergence of Oreo and Coca Cola. Well, now you can!  You can watch a totally fun and ridiculous reading of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones from celebrities and comedians in THE GREAT KAMINO KAPER   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Shua seems to be overcoming his avoidance of scary movies. He watched A Quiet Place: Day One with Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn. It was an intense addition to the franchise and gives us a terrifying origin story for our planet’s downfall. Jay is spending some of the waning summer days playing disc golf with his son. A cheap and easy activity that is lots of fun and gets you moving outside. Check your area for some disc golf courses, or just make your own.     Enjoy Life!  For many years our culture has put a stigma on the simple and natural truth that a person’s head can be bald. Both men and women alike are susceptible to losing their hair in a variety of different ways. But we here at Enjoy Stuff are here to pull you into the worldwide celebration of Bald is Beautiful Day! BIBD was created by John Capps from Moorehead City, NC. (I’m not kidding!) John started the Bald Headed Men's Convention over 50 years ago and the momentum hasn’t slowed down.     Revisit the Steve Martin classic All of Me for its 40th anniversary. Jovial Jay and Shua have tons of laughs at this fun retro comedy.    We love Steve Martin. And that’s why we had such a good time rewatching All of Me. Tune in to Enjoy Stuff to hear all about this 1984 Carl Reiner film.    News Say What? A season 4 of Ted Lasso? It may be coming There’s a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice menu at Denny's and it may send you to the afterlife Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story has a trailer and is coming to theaters soon   Are you ready for a John Williams documentary? Of course you are! It must be done, and it’s coming.   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Greedy people may annoy all of us, but they make for an entertaining movie. Jay enjoyed the Joseph Gordon Levitt dark comedy Greedy People. It has a lot of twists and unexpected surprises that keep you entertained. So be prepared for an unexpected ending. Shua revisited the 1979 new beginning for a franchise. Star Trek - The Motion Picture may not be the best Trek film, but it has it’s merits, and it kept the universe alive.    Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay reluctantly added the 2007 adaptation of the much loved 80s cartoon Transformers. This Michael Bay film was definitely a spectacle, but could it live up with our expectations? It depends who you ask, but either way, Jay breaks it down and gives his analysis on Sci-Fi Saturdays. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.     Enjoy Movies!  40 years ago Steve Martin’s movie career was really on the rise. He teamed up for the fourth time with Carl Reiner for the “body swap” comedy All of Me with Lily Tomlin. She plays Edwina Cutwater, a very rich woman who is about to die. Instead of coming to terms with it, she has hired a Swami to put her soul into Terry Hoskins, the daughter of Edwina’s stable master Fred. But in a freak accident, she gets put in Steve Martin’s Roger Cobb instead. Now he has to find the Swami to fix it all. It was a fun concept and holds up today.
