Hear in the Gorge
A podcast that digs into the stories of a place, listens to the people who know it best, and goes places you never expected.
Local stories that hit at the core of a life lived.

It’s unclear how I first came upon this little known podcast but it hooked me from the first minute. The breadth of topics on life in rural Oregon and the greater impact these stories have had across the nation are really compelling. Stories about the Japanese internment during WWII from a survivor of those camps, the life lived of a long-time fisherwoman catching salmon on the Columbia and the history of the Fish Wars, a nail-biting survival story on Mount Hood, Woody Guthrie’s lost songs. It goes on and on. High-quality local journalism you rarely find.
Outstanding!

Intriguing stories by a talented storyteller! Sarah's curiosity spurs probing questions and her amiable personality puts her subjects at ease, which makes for a fulfilling ride as we learn fascinatirng insights into this special place. But even if you're not lucky enough to live in the Columbia River Gorge, the topics here transcend the location and give an interesting perspective on American history, politics and culture.
Gorge history, entertainment, fun!

These podcasts are all at once entertaining, educational, historical, poignant, and humorous. You don’t need to be a resident of the Pacific Northwest to listen and enjoy these! Well, done.
Good ideas!

Yes, Tina, you read my mind! We have a story from the Gorge Latinx community in pre-production right now! It will be out soon (thanks to funding from the Oregon Heritage Commission) and I'd love to do an episode on elders. Be in touch with ideas - for stories and funding!
