MDT is a physical therapist with 40 years of experience in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), also known as the McKenzie Method. He began training personally with Robin McKenzie in 1984 and continued this direct mentorship until 1992. In 1993, Scott was appointed as a McKenzie Institute instructor and has since taught over 500 continuing education courses in MDT. He has served as senior faculty for the U.S. branch since 2000, where his responsibilities include mentoring new faculty, developing advanced education programs, and presenting at numerous conferences. Scott was also one of the first instructors for the Institute's inaugural stand-alone extremity courses in 2001. Dr. O’Sullivan is internationally recognised as a leading clinician, researcher and educator in musculoskeletal pain disorders. With his team he has developed a novel management approach for people disabling low back pain – called ‘cognitive functional therapy’. This treatment has demonstrated efficacy in numerous clinical trials, including a recent landmark trial published in The Lancet. With his team he has published more than 350 scientific papers, written numerous book chapters and has been keynote speaker at over 120 national and international conferences. He leads GLA:D Australia, which aims to improve access to appropriate exercise and education for all Australians with osteoarthritis; and TREK, a project aimed at improving access to knowledge of evidence-based treatments. Dr. Christian is an expert in the management of difficult-to-treat, long-term injuries. He has a particular interest in osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, knee (including patellofemoral pain), and running-related injuries.     💭” I learned a lot by working with strength coaches, and coming from a therapy background, I understood how to combine both approaches.” -  Michael Hope Our guest, Michael Hope PT, Dip, MDT graduated with a degree in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991.  He obtained his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology from West Virginia University in 1988. Michael started working for Summit Physical Therapy in 1995.  He then became a co-owner of Summit Physical Therapy in 2002. Michael became certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in 1991. Additionally, he is a McKenzie Diplomate. Michael has taken many continuing education courses in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and surgical rehabilitation.  Michael specializes in treating challenging patients that have shoulder, knee, or spine conditions that have previously failed to progress in physical therapy. Michael trained college and professional football players in performance enhancement skills (including West Virginia Mountaineers, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Steelers).  He has treated high school, college, and professional athletes from all over the world. So, we need to get better at instilling learning.” -  Prof. Lorimer Moseley Our guest, Prof. Lorimer Moseley DSc PhD FACP is is a Bradley Distinguished Professor in Clinical Neuroscience, Foundation Chair in Physiotherapy and CEO of the not-for-profit Pain Revolution. His main interests are persistent pain and other protective feelings and how to best convey modern scientific understanding of chronic pain and similar conditions to consumers, the general public, and health professionals, in a way that is ‘sticky’ and improves outcomes. He has authored over 400 scientific articles and eight books. His foundational discoveries around ‘how pain works’, communication of those discoveries to diverse audiences, and integration of modern pain science into clinical practice, have been recognised by honours in 15 countries, as well as world peak bodies in several fields. His research has transformed practice in chronic pain care internationally, including UK’s National Health Service, USA’s Veterans’ Affairs and European pain management clinical standards. In 2020, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia, that country’s second highest civilian honour, for ‘distinguished service, to humanity at large, in the fields of pain and its management, science communication, education and physiotherapy.’ Lorimer lives and works on Kaurna Land in Adelaide, South Australia. 📚You will learn about: The main concepts from his book Explain Pain.     💭"It's very difficult to be part of international processes, to develop evidence-based practice, and to find enough information to grow as a specialist.” -  Dr. Yury Zhidchenko Our guest, Dr. Yury Zhidchenko, is a physician and physical therapist with over 20 years of experience. He graduated from St. Petersburg State Medical University in 2000. After completing his medical degree, Yury pursued a Clinical Residency in Family Medicine and Neurology at St. Petersburg and he then worked as an Emergency Room neurologist at St. Petersburg St. Elizabeth Hospital. From 2005 to 2007, Yury specialized in neurorehabilitation and played a key role in developing the Kinesis Rehabilitation Center, focusing on stroke patients. In 2007, he was invited by the Swiss Association of Paraplegia to discuss the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) in spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Between 2007 and 2023, Yury conducted over 8,500 home physical therapy sessions for patients with severe central nervous system lesions. From 2017 to 2019, Yury participated in the international SOCRE project, studying and working in Finland, the Netherlands, and Belgium to develop social rehabilitation approaches in Russia.     💭” The Movement System Impairment is your blueprint or the reason for using certain tools, and traditional PT is the skill of having all those tools.” -  Dr. Jamey Gordon Our guest Dr. Jamey Gordon PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS is a doctor of physical therapy, certified athletic trainer, and certified strength and conditioning coach.  He serves as the Team Rehab Westfield Clinic Director as well as the Director of Athlete Development and oversees all rehabilitation, speed, strength and agility training, and skill development activities at ProX.  In addition to his duties at Team Rehab and ProX, Jamey also serves as a fellowship mentor and clinical instructor for the Physical Therapy program at Washington University in St. Louis, his alma mater for both his Masters and Doctoral degrees.
