A graduate of William Paterson University, Morren skated for three seasons with the Pioneers hockey club and became the first statistical analyst to apply his craft to telecasts working New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils games from 1984-87. He co-authored two NHL-based statistics books within that span before moving to ESPN in 1987 and working the final season of the original deal the network had with the NHL. After departing in 1990, Morren worked as a studio producer for SportsChannel America’s NHL coverage and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics before returning to ESPN that fall where he worked all 12 seasons on the second ESPN/NHL deal and the first season of the most recent contract in 2021-22. Morren has also earned a Sports Emmy for his work on Sunday Night Football coverage in 2003. His relationship with Neil Smith dates back 33 years through their mutual friendship with the late ESPN/ABC commentator John Saunders. Episode 43 - The Kings Reign Again with President Luc Robitaille

Hall-of-Famer and President of the L.A. Kings Luc Robitaille visits with Neil and Vic to discuss a team which has become a force in the Western Conference. We'll pour a little cold water on Alex Ovechkin's chase of the goal-scoring record and also talk about who needs to take the reigns when there's tension within a team. IN THIS EPISODE: [0:56] - In "Three Things You Need to Pay Attention To," we hit on the surging Red Wings, Alex Ovechkin's empty net goals and how a little adversity may have been the perfect tonic for the Canucks this past weekend. [11:55] - Kings President Luc Robitaille joins the show with an update on how the organization is coping with the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. [15:40] - Robitaille discusses his day-to-day role as team president. [18:10] - Robitaille speaks to the heavy, defense-oriented Cup winners in 2012 and 2014 as well as this season compared to the firewagon days when Luc played in Los Angeles. [25:50] - Assessment of the power play and goaltending. [30:28] - Luc talks about his experience with Neil Smith after having been acquired by the Rangers in 1995. [34:25] - Over the course of a season, tensions are going to rise within a team for a variety of reasons. Needless to say, media jumps on the slightest indication when waves appear. Neil shares thoughts of who needs to address issues and where it needs to take place. [40:29] - In our player notes section, we do a deeper dive into Cutter Gauthier's first game in Philadelphia and why the Flyers need more than a visit from a player who spurned them to bring energy to the Wells Fargo Center on a nightly basis. [46:40] - Our Human Side of the Story Focuses on our guest, Kings President Luc Robitaille.
