The Science in The Fiction

The science fiction umbrella is large and is not as connected to hard physical science principles as it once was. That divide persists in the science fiction community between the hard sci purists and other tribes. The podcast does an excellent job of re-grounding science fiction discussion with the science. It is mindful, however, that science fiction has come to embrace the social sciences and humanities. Through dialogue between real scientists and the creators, a deeper understanding of both spheres emerges. If you are hard science oriented, you should check out the episode with Damien Walter. Keep an open mind. If you sometimes feel intimidated by hard science fiction, this is very accessible and a great way to learn how to have more fun while authors bring real science into the narrative.
