EP 50 Q&A with Christine Caine: Does Having Friends Matter? Spoiler Alert: Yes.

When work, family, ministry, and extracurriculars start to pack your schedule, it’s easy to let friendships fade. In this episode, Christine Caine gets open and honest about the importance of maintaining friendships in every season, no matter how demanding schedules become. She will encourage you to make time for friends, be a good friend, and know when to let go of unhealthy relationships. You don’t want to miss this Q&A! SHOW NOTES: Be Friendly Scripture teaches that if we want friends we must be friendly (Proverbs 18:24). Nick and Christine live by this verse as friendly, godly people who exemplify the importance of prioritizing friendship in every season of life. Intentionally Invest in Others Just like we can’t talk to the Lord once a week and have a healthy, vibrant spiritual life—talking to friends at our convenience won’t cultivate strong relationships. Christ-centered love is sacrificial, selflessly valuing others above yourself (Philippians 2:3). Cultivate a Close Circle Paul tells us to carry each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) because sometimes life is too much to shoulder alone. Christine encourages us to have a close circle of trustworthy, like-minded friends with whom we can confide. 2. EP 49 Q&A with Christine Caine: How to Make Prayer Your First Response

EP 49 Q&A with Christine Caine: How to Make Prayer Your First Response

Today, on the podcast, we kick off a mini-series of Q&A with Christine Caine, hosted by Equip & Empower team member, Mattie Meese. In this episode, Christine Caine shares how prayer is the foundation of her life and ministry. Listen in to find encouragement today if you’ve ever wrestled with how to pray or struggled with unanswered prayers. SHOW NOTES: First Response For Christine and Nick, prayer has become a first response when navigating challenging situations in life, but it’s also their first response when things are going well. Prayer is not regulated only for times of crisis but also for times of praise. “Open Mouth. Pray” A Christian speaker from South Korea forever impacted Christine when she challenged an audience to not overcomplicate prayer. She said you simply need to open your mouth, then pray. Dependency Upon God Christine shares that she cannot provide the breakthroughs needed in her life and ministry. However, prayer invites God’s divine activity into our lives, expressing our utter dependence upon the Lord and our need for his intervention. EP 48 with Debra Fileta: Why Faith-Forward Counseling Matters

Today on the podcast, Christine Caine interviews licensed professional counselor, Debra Fileta. The two discuss the importance of integrating faith and psychology, and the implications learning to do so can have on your life and leadership. If you have a dream in your heart but feel like you’re lacking the time and energy needed to execute the plan, Debra will encourage you, from her own experience, to give God the moments you do have and watch him work in inexplicable ways. SHOW NOTES: Shifting with Seasons Whether past trauma or learned behaviors from childhood, everyone has things they need to confront to be a healthy adult. As Debra says, “Sometimes the things that served us in one season sabotage us in another season.” Love Yourself Yes, Scripture teaches us to “deny ourselves,” but we are also called to “love your neighbor as you love yourself.” While it’s wrong to be obsessed with self, it’s also wrong not to love yourself and care for the body and soul God gave you. Invitation to Heal Past pain or trauma can resurface during busy seasons when we feel our capacity is maxed. Debra encourages us not to shrink back or give up but to lean into the pain so we can heal. EP 47 with Natalie LaBorde: A21 and Humble Beginnings

Natalie LaBorde and Christine Caine first met when Natalie was at LSU and heard Christine speak on “being about the Father’s business.” Implementing Christine’s counsel has led Natalie on an unprecedented path, watching God work in miraculous ways, and now working as the Executive Counsel of the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Whatever obstacles you’re facing, this episode will challenge you to persevere in faith – even when you don’t understand the road ahead – and watch God do “above and beyond what you could ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). SHOW NOTES: Blessed Beginnings Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend upon your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Sixteen years after its inception, God has abundantly blessed A21, which now has 19 offices in 14 countries. Our responsibility is obedience – God brings the fruit. Abundant Growth A dream that was birthed in the Caine’s kitchen now hosts walks all over the world to raise awareness about human trafficking. Walk For Freedom has rallied more than 350,000 participants at thousands of walks since 2014. (To learn more, head to A21.org/Walk) In what areas of your life is God calling you to bold faith and obedience? Following God Natalie challenges us to steward life wisely. Identify your strengths and passions and allow those to be your roadmap. There isn’t a formula for faith, but God leads us each step of the way when we surrender our plans and submit to the Holy Spirit. EP 46 with Daniela Freidzon-Mccabe: Experiencing the Transformational Power of God

Today on the podcast, Argentinian and Greek fire combine when Daniela Freidzon-Mccabe joins Christine Caine to share about her church’s 30-year-long revival. Daniela has witnessed an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon thousands of lives, and she personally experienced God penetrate her heart with his goodness, power, and love. As Daniela testifies, God can heal your wounds, give you a new heart, and invites you to join his miraculous work. This episode reminds you that God still works wonders and his Spirit is alive and active today. SHOW NOTES: Hope for Youth Daniela is passionate that younger generations understand: They are called by God. They can know God. They can be known by God. They can do great things for God. God’s Healing Presence The Spirit is moving in the younger generations because they are hungry for God’s presence. Daniela remarks that revival happens in the presence of God and encourages us to desire him above all else. EP 45 with Dr. Sarita Lyons: On Being a Church Girl and a Black Woman

In this episode, Dr. Sarita Lyons joins Christine Caine on the Propel Women podcast to talk about what it means to be a “church girl” as a black woman. In this episode you will be encouraged that God’s word is relevant in any and every corner of discovering your purpose, identity and calling. Dr. Sarita will empower you to face the particular spiritual challenges and opportunities you face in the culture and context God has placed you. Show Notes: Loving the Local Church “We should love what Christ loves and we should hate what Christ hates. And one of the things Christ does not hate is the local church.” Context Matters This focus is needed for black believers to understand their calling and for all believers to acknowledge that cultural context follows God’s biblical pattern. “Black segments of the world are saying Christianity is a white man’s religion. You need someone like me who has walked a mile in a black woman’s shoes to say no, Jesus came to die for everyone.” Unexpected Idols and Unidentified Prophets Over time, God used faithful witnesses to chip away at Dr. Sarita’s idolatry. She encourages us not to underestimate the impact that our small moments of witness might have. “We accomplish more in prayer than we think. God is not weak. God is not slow. And, God is not late.” Follow @drsaritalyons on Instagram and get your own copy of Church Girl. 7. EP 44 with Katie Modrau: Inexperienced and Underqualified: How to Learn as You Lead

    7 NOV.

EP 44 with Katie Modrau: Inexperienced and Underqualified: How to Learn as You Lead

In this episode, Christine Caine welcomes Katie Modrau, country manager for A21 South Africa. Katie’s story is one of needing to lead and pilot in areas where she was young and underqualified. “Don’t fake it ‘til you make it,” advises Katie, “but learn where your limitations are.” Christine and Katie encourage us to trust that God has put us in the places he has, while remembering it’s our responsibility to learn, grow, and improve our skills in order to steward those opportunities well. Listen in as Katie shares the sobering reality of A21’s work in South Africa and be reminded that God has you where you are for a reason and that no matter how underqualified you feel, you can learn and grow as you lead. Show Notes: Remain flexible Katie had plans to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy, but her life was irrevocably changed when she heard about human trafficking. Even when you feel underqualified and inexperienced, you can move forward and steward God’s opportunities. Learn Your Limits Leaders often have to pioneer new things, which means needing to grow and learn on the job, knowing our limits and being honest about them. God uses life experiences to equip us so we can equip others and be patient as they are learning. Learn as You Go Katie encourages us to put in the work to develop skills to steward our opportunities well. Faith doesn’t just mean “winging it.” We need to commit to developing strengths and skills for the tasks God has given us. Leading a Tired Team To ensure her workers can go the distance, Katie puts practices in place like vacation time and counseling opportunities, but reminds us that each person is responsible to implement those. We are responsible for implementing our own boundaries in the ebb and flow of life’s challenges. — Follow Katie on Instagram @KatieModrau. Katie Modrau has her honours in Occupational Therapy (BSc OT) from University of Cape Town and has been working for A21 for the past 13 years as South Africa's Country Manager. 31 OCT.

EP 43 with Nicole Martin: Leadership and the Dance of Discernment

In this episode, our host, Christine Caine, welcomes Rev. Dr. Nicole Martin, Chief Impact Officer with Christianity Today. Nicole shares how God has used her education, experiences (both successes and disappointments), and the direction of the Spirit to equip her to live and lead with discernment at home and in the workplace. It’s not just one part of us that God calls to follow him, rather it’s our whole person. Nicole will encourage you today to bring your whole self into every space and place God leads you. Show Notes: God’s Detours In many of the disappointing “side” routes she has faced, Nicole says God has been actively detouring her so that He could sharpen her skills or show her new things He had for her. What divine detours might God be leading you on? A Seat at the Table Nicole recalls, “when you get to the table, it’s your job to speak up for who’s not there.” We all have a role in creating pathways for other leaders and voices that are noticeably not present. Bring Your Whole Self “Code-switching” and having to adapt yourself to new environments is exhausting. Nicole shares how discernment is learning to “listen to the Holy Spirit to know when it’s time to pull back or push forward,” not because you’re too much or not enough, “but because you’re waiting for the appointed time.” Do What Only you can do Our bodies are one way God signals to us that we have limits. If we’re overwhelmed, Nicole suggests it may be time for us to be discerning about what needs to change. Christine shares that none of us can do it all, and we can practice accepting help from others where it’s available, so that we are able to prioritize the relationships and tasks that only we can do.
