Why She Stayed

Grace not only knows exactly how it feels- she’s compassionate & wise beyond her years. Anyone who has been abused, this is a MUST HEAR podcast. She has a variety of guests who also “get it”. It is refreshing to hear the truth and be inspired to move fwd. Nobody enjoys being a victim. I appreciate that Grace focuses on healing.. letting go.. and looking fwd to the future. Not ruminating & staying stuck in the chaos. We tend to beat ourselves up enough- this is positive encouragement. I also appreciate her faith. She credits God for her healing success. While she welcomes ppl of all walks. She keeps God in her conversation, which I love. Being a woman of strong faith, and in need of encouragement, I really enjoyed her environment. I wanted to add a kind suggestion, after hearing many stories of how the toxic partner threatens to kill or harm themselves. This is typically an effort to control us. But I have learned that the BEST thing we can do, if this happens. CALL 911 and report them. It is exactly what authorities will also advise. If they are serious, they will get the help they need. If they are simply trying to manipulate, they will learn a hard lesson about what a serious that threat is. Plus, it relieves the concern, that if we don’t comply with their wishes, we will feel responsible for what they do. I really hope this helps anyone else who deals with that tactic. I found this podcast after leaving my emotionally abusive relationship and every time I felt the pull to go back I’d turn Grace on to listen. She helped me so much to feel validated and just not alone. I got stronger in staying no contact after each episode I listened to! If you can relate to her story or any of the other stories on this podcast it is not safe to go back! I’ve learned so much about my experience here with spiritual and sexual abuse on top of the mind games and manipulation! This podcast had been eye opening and just a game changer! Thank you Grace for giving me the strength to keep going! I feel so seen!

This podcast has been such a support, in a chaotic, confusing and difficult time. So validating, as abusers work to make you feel like you’re the crazy one and to second guess yourself. I have been recommending it to everyone I know. Not only is it helpful for those of us who have left an abusive partner, but for those who are still in it, and for friends and family members who do not understand the dynamics of an abusive relationship.
