지난 20년간 Google, Meta, Twitter와 같은 회사들이 위치한 실리콘 밸리는 경제 번영을 누리는 황금 시대였습니다. 무료 음식/간식, 비즈니스 항공편, 다양한 팀행사 등과 같은 복지를 제공하여 행복하기만 보였던 실리콘밸리는 칼바람이 불고 있습니다. 2023년 초까지 이미 15만 명 이상의 정리해고가 진행됐으며, 테크 종사자들은 매일같이 다음 정리해고의 압박에 살아가고 있습니다. 최근 연달아 있었던 정리해고가 실리콘밸리 종사자들의 삶에 어떤 변화를 가져왔는지 얘기해보는 시간을 가졌습니다.

The past 20 years have been the golden age for Silicon Valley and all the tech employees reaping the benefits of economic prosperity. Companies like Google, Meta, and Twitter provided employees with outlandish benefits such as free food/snacks, business class flights during business trips, expensive team offsites and much more. However, things are changing in Silicon Valley as we speak. Since the start of 2023, more than 150,000 thousand tech roles have been reduced, and tech employees are living the fears of further role reductions on a daily basis. As early professionals in the tech industry, we will discuss how layoffs have impacted close friends and colleagues around us, and how we are dealing with the pressure of potentially getting laid off by our employers.
