Episode #18: How to Overcome the Limiting Beliefs of Starting a Business with Kate Crocco

The Fearless Female Entrepreneur

Welcome to Episode 18 of #TrueJoyRevolution. Today I had the pleasure of chatting with my own confidence and mindset coach Kate Crocco, psychotherapist, author and confidence and mindset coach. Kate shared her own journey from leaving 9-5 to starting her own therapy practice and coaching business.

She opens up about her own limiting beliefs that held her back from taking big leaps along the way.

There are so many golden nuggets of wisdom in this episode.

Powerful Insights from Kate:

“If you have something on your heart. Something that You’re dreaming about. That you really want to make happen, but you’re afraid to go and do it, if you have the opportunity, just say YES and then figure it out after. Don’t figure it out first and then wait for the opportunity. Just say yes then figure it out because you may not have the opportunity again. You’re never going to be ready enough to say yes to that opportunity.”

"You’re never gonna be ready. There’s never gonna be the perfect time. You’re never gonna have enough time….No one’s ever gonna care about your business as much as you do, so stop worrying about their opinions…Stop waiting to feel validated by them…You’re never going to be qualified enough. You’re never gonna feel young enough, old enough, smart enough. You just have to do it. You just have to get started.”

“I’d rather live a life of falling, making mistakes, at least knowing that I tried rather than living a life and saying ‘What if? What if I just tried that?’” "What I want to say to women is that you CAN do it all. You can have everything you want and desire. But you’re going to have to make some other sacrifices. And you’re going to learn your priorities and what means the most to you.”

“It’s about really getting in tune with what means the most to you, what you really feel is on your heart, and just really trusting that if that is for you, it’s going to find you.”

“Stop listening to everyone else. Do what you feel you’re really supposed to do. Do all the steps you need to make that thing happen, but then just step back and surrender. Don't hold on so tightly.”

“Figure out what feels best, what you feel called to do, go and do it, do all the steps that you can in your hands, that’s possible for you, and then just surrender it. What’s supposed to happen is gonna happen.” “This didn’t work because it’s not actually supposed to work, but it got you going in the right direction. You’re gonna go in this other path now and this is where you’re supposed to be.”

Here are tips from Kate to help you on your journey:

  1. “To not look at failure as failure but to look at it as redirection.”  Not all things are meant to work out. Sometimes they are just steps in the right direction to what you are meant to do. They are learning experiences.

When things don’t work out, see it as a detour to where you are really supposed to end up.

  2. “Say yes and figure it out after. You’re never going to ready enough.” There is always something you can wait for, but the waiting may never end. Don’t hide behind these excuses. They are just masking your fear of starting and failing. Instead, just start. You can always tweak or try something new.

Once you start trying, you’ll eventually start to learn more about what is right for you and what you really want to be doing.

  3. "Just Really listen to your intuition."

Your intuition will never lead you wrong. So follow your gut. If it is on your heart it is for you. So follow that nudge.
