TROJAN WAR: THE PODCAST
Trojan War: The Podcast is a serialized telling, in contemporary language, of the myriad stories from Greek mythology that together comprise the greatest epic of Western culture: the story of the Trojan War. All the great characters from Homer’s Iliad are here – Achilles, Helen of Troy, Odysseus, the Olympian Gods – and all the famous moments from the story – the Trojan Horse, The Judgement of Paris and Achilles Heel. Episode after episode, Jeff Wright, the storyteller, delivers a conversational, fast-paced, literate, and addictive, performance.
A brilliant mix of literature & history
٢٥ شعبان
I follow quite a few history podcasts and have always been interested in Greek history & literature. This podcast is a beautiful mix of the retelling of the full story of the Trojan War (not just the Iliad) in easy to understand language while also providing the historical context of the story. What I enjoyed most was the last 20 minutes or so (he provides a brief break & remarks in the show notes) a deeper analysis of some of the ideas brought up in the story. Fate vs Free Will, why DID Helen leave Sparta with Paris (alternative theories), Bronze Age honor culture, & how it affects the story, etc. If you had to read the Iliad in school & was bored to death—-LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. If you love hearing alternative views of well known characters—-LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. If you enjoy intersection of history & literature, again, LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. I binged listened to this 24 hour podcast in a few days. Check it out. You won’t regret it.
I wish he could tell me every classic story

Jeff is by far the best, most captivating storyteller I’ve encountered. Having listened to both the Trojan War and Odyssey podcasts, that’s about 50 hours of podcast and it ended too soon! I sneakily played just part of one episode for my dad while we were driving, and in a moment of silence in the car, he tuned in and was almost immediately hooked. How many times could you tell a 50-hour story, have someone tune-in at ANY random point in the story, and know they’ll be interested. Now that I’m done I can hardly get myself to listen to my other podcasts, because they’re not the world that Jeff gave us. Jeff, if you read these reviews, I request the Aeneid and The Divine Comedy! I know they’re totally out of your wheelhouse but you’d make them shine nonetheless.
Trojan War the Podcast

I was not interested in Greek mythology or the Trojan war when I began listening. My daughter was playing the podcast on a recent visit and it was the fun, witty telling of the story by Jeff Wright that sucked me in. I love this Podcast. I would say it has renewed my interest in Greek mythology - barely remembering my studies of the Iliad from high school. I look forward to the next podcast: Odyssey: The Podcast. In his podcast, Jeff recommends reading the Odyssey yourself. I am so into this story now, I will probably do that as well. But not sure if I need it told to me by a storyteller or not. Great, fun podcast which I highly recommend. But it’s not for falling asleep to!
So well done and entertaining 5 stars

Jeff Wright the storyteller really brings the story of the Iliad to life. It’s witty and engaging, but at same time I felt it was respectful to the source material. One of best historical podcasts I have come across also does the Odyssey which is equally brilliant.
