Audrey Helps Actors Podcast

I love catching this podcast whenever I can. Audrey has a great way of being able to appeal to actors from all levels, regardless of who she is talking to. Great mix of fun and playful, but also straight up nuts and bolts getting down to business.

Hi Audrey, I wanted to reach out and thank you for the phenomenal resource that is your Audrey Helps Actors podcast. I am a recent transplant to Los Angeles from Chicago, and one of my friends had suggested your podcast as a good listening tool. And boy, she was right on the money! I appreciate so much about this podcast and just wanted to send you a gushing thank you for all that you do with it. From your infectious laugh, to your deeply honest and honed opinion on the business (because we all need to be reminded that this is a business), I feel like I walk away after each episode listening feeling overwhelmed mixed with sheer determination in the best way. The vibe out in Los Angeles is much different from Chicago, and one that I am enjoying learning and appreciating. My spouse and I chose to come out here after dedicating our lives to the beautiful storefront community that is Chicago Theatre, but knew that we had much higher aspirations and felt that Los Angeles was the new place to call home as we transitioned into film and television. The two podcasts I wanted to point out that I have thoroughly enjoyed were Episode 125 and 113. Having the first episode I ever listened to on your podcast be with a Los Angeles transplant from Chicago, it felt kismet. And you were right on the money with your questions and how you approached the interview. I specifically loved your question regarding the self tape coach and whether they were good at booking themselves on shows, or if they had a strong track record of booking their clients on shows - what a simple concept that I had never even thought to encounter myself! And y'alls honest convos regarding cost in this business in the other episode, and how that can deter your time focusing on your craft was a breath of fresh air - I so appreciated y'all really being open about it all. I'm listening to your podcast in reverse order, so I'm looking forward to using my daily walks for more podcast time with you. And I'll be honest, I've never yearned for May to come faster so I can participate in your Self-Tape May! All in all, I wanted to send you a thank you as we come towards the end of the year. I know that this acting road is a long and arduous one, and being a brand new fish in a ginormous pond and beginning the world of networking again in a new city is incredibly daunting. But your podcast brings some light to my low days, and keeps my gears moving and determination driving. Wishing you and yours a wonderful rest of 2024, and I look forward to hopefully crossing paths on set one day!

Audrey provides incredibly insightful and honest advice, and manages to deliver it in a way that isn’t crushing but blunt enough for you to feel armed against the realities of the industry. The way she interacts with other actors is also incredible; both her self-tape tips and type cast tests have been really eye opening. Thank you so much Audrey, I hope the review baby stays satiated throughout hiatus!

I need to listen to more eps, but I am enjoying the ones I have listened to. Thank you for your podcast. I appreciate the breakdown of advice you give actors.
