EPISODE 2: Talking About Anti-Blackness in the Pilipinx/Pilipinx-American Community feat Rosanne Bangalan @astrologyheauxs Pilipinx-American Stories Podcast

    • Society & Culture

Anti-Blackness is something that is prevalent in the Pilipinx/Pilipinx-American community, whether it be blatant or not. It can be seen in favoritism toward family members with lighter skin. Or it can be seen in the over promotion of skin whitening products. What's wrong with having darker skin? Our guest, Rosanne, and I touch upon what we've seen perpetuated from our personal experiences. And we also go about ways to speak about this with our family and friends. Shout out to Rosanne, from the Astrology Heauxs for getting down on this week's episode

Documents brought up in the episode include "Beyond Earth, Wind, and Fire: Elements of Filipinx Allyship" created by FLOW from Fordham Lincoln Center based out of Manhattan, and "A Guide to Allyship" by Annette Nguyen.
