Many years ago I wrote a book called The Anatomy of Fear, exploring the psychological underpinnings behind horror and science fiction films. I’m fascinated by what forms our fears and how that affects our choices in entertainment and life. This show is an approachable, fun, and illuminating peek into that same world. Terry and Mary Beth are vibrant hosts taking us on a tour of traumatic childhoods one film at a time. Totally worth the journey every single episode.

Scarred for Life never fails to remind me of many a childhood movie that terrified me, and lets me know that I’m not alone thanks to all of the crazy awesome guests that talk about that one movie that messed them up. Hosts, Mary Beth and Terry, create an environment with each guest that makes you feel like you’re listening to a group of friends just hanging out and talking kindertrauma. Lots of laughs, lots of heart, and lots of cinematic knowledge are always on the menu. Also, spiders for Terry.

I love this podcast. I’m always learning about some weird new movie to check out and it feels like hanging out with your horror nerd besties. But most importantly - Terry needs to watch INFESTED. 🕷️ (I actually cant believe I haven’t left a rating for this show yet !)

This is my favorite horror podcast! The hosts are interesting, knowledgeable, funny, and have great chemistry. I feel like I’m chatting with friends when I listen. The guests they have on are always great as well. I’ve learned about so many movies to watch (new and old) through this, it’s a great resource for horror movie fiends like me. I greatly appreciate the diverse thoughts and opinions presented here. Keep it up Mary Beth and Terry!
