BACKGROUND:

Born and raised in the quaint town of La Villa, Texas, Mayra Cantu's roots are deeply embedded in a rich tapestry of American and Mexican heritage. Her father, a valiant veteran who served in the Vietnam War, instilled in her the values of service, sacrifice, and love for one's country. Meanwhile, her mother, hailing from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, embarked on her American journey legally, becoming a U.S. citizen when Mayra was 12 years old.

Mayra's early life was marked by the absence of her father, who passed away when she was only three years old. Raised as a first-generation American, Mayra navigated through the challenges and triumphs of her unique upbringing. She embodied the spirit of resilience and determination instilled within, by her Mother.

Today, Mayra proudly stands as a living testament to the American dream her parents envisioned for her. As a devoted stay-at-home mom to three wonderful children—Dylan, Lex, and Devyn—she imbues her household with the same values of patriotism and hard work that shaped her own upbringing.

For nearly 16 years, Mayra has been the steadfast partner of a Border Patrol Agent, a role that has defined her commitment to safeguarding the nation's borders. Having spent a decade stationed in Eagle Pass, Texas, and now residing in the Rio Grande Valley, Mayra's life is intertwined with the heartbeat of the borderlands.

Beyond her role as a dedicated mother and spouse, Mayra is an active participant in local community affairs. As the Hidalgo County Precinct Chair, she plays a pivotal role in grassroots politics, advocating for the interests of her community at a fundamental level. Additionally, Mayra serves as the Chair of the Hidalgo County Patrol Appreciation Committee, demonstrating her unwavering support for the law enforcement community.

A passionate member of the Hidalgo County GOP, Mayra is actively involved in multiple committees, including the HCGOP Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) Committee and the Veteran Committee. Through her engagement, she tirelessly defends and honors the traditional American lifestyle that has shaped her journey.

Mayra Cantu's story is one of love, sacrifice, and unyielding dedication to family, community, and country. As she continues to weave her narrative in the fabric of American life, Mayra stands as an inspiration to those who cherish the values of liberty, service, and the pursuit of the American dream.
