Natalie’s journey began in 2001 with yoga at community centers in Ottawa, Canada. Never one for traditional forms of exercise, yoga offered her an appealing combination of a good workout in both body and mind. As soon as she got into savasana (resting pose) she felt a wave of calm and peace wash over her. As someone who is naturally anxious and has an overactive mind, this was a godsent.
While it was a great experience on a physical level, it hinted at much more to explore. Yoga unites your body and mind through the power of paying attention, and attention to the breath.
The practice meets you where you are at, it is non-competitive, non-judgemental and encourages an overriding curiosity of self-awareness. It’s you observing you.  There is a whole wonderful philosophy behind it that is quite scientific which outlines why we suffer and ways to get out of it in a non-religious preachy way.
It wasn’t too long after in 2005 that she took her first yoga training and was teaching soon after. She has taken numerous trainings in hatha, ashtanga, yin, restorative, yoga nidra, vinyasa, yoga therapy, and kundalini. As her interests and appetites are diverse, she draws from all of these to create a dynamic experience in her teaching.
Yoga offers a plethora of practices to suit any body or temperament type. You just have to be open to trying and continue trying till you find your fit.
