Great Hammerhead Sharks Are Disappearing

Global Conservation Force's Anti-Poaching Efforts

Global Conservation Force is on the front lines in Africa and other areas throughout the world fighting poaching and wildlife trafficking. Mike Veale founded Global Conservation Force in 2014. As an organization, Global Conservation Force has grown and is fighting hard to save our disappearing wildlife. Well worth a listen to learn the truth of poaching in Africa. Biography Mike Veale is a southern California native who has worked extensively with animals for the majority of his conservation career. From a young age Mike has been passionate about the nature, wildlife, and anything he could do to protect it. He focused on gaining any experience he could from a young age, taking on some of his first conservation projects at the age of 14, as a Boy Scout. As a Senior Mammal Keeper at San Diego Safari Park he had unparalleled access to two of the last remaining North African White Rhinos as well as dozens of other endangered species. In 2014, after years of watching the wild populations of animals under his care rapidly dwindle, Mike decided to take action. His lengthy wildlife care career, combined with his conservation, ranger, and active, combat-sport-heavy lifestyle gave Mike the unique experience needed to fight on the front line of conservation. Mike traveled to South Africa and passed the intensive boot camp training required before finally becoming an anti-poaching ranger in Greater Kruger National Park. After several months of fighting poaching, Mike returned to America, and Global Conservation Force was founded. He continues to go back and fourth between the US, Asia, and Africa working on direct impact wildlife conservation projects, local community support, and anti poaching patrols. Old World Mandrills

The colorful Mandrill amazes any that are fortunate to see it. Located in Central Africa, Mandrills are some of our distant cousins that are in danger of extinction. They also display some of the most amazing colors in the animal kingdom and just how they do this will amaze you. Mandrills belong to the Cercopithecidae family, which are Old World Monkeys. There are 24 different genera and estimated 138 species belonging to this group. Sadly, Mandrills are listed as Vulnerable to extinction and unless conservation action is taken, they may be lost to us. This podcast is filled with many unique and interesting facts about lots of different animals. Chris and Angie have great synergy. They are so genuine and passionate about animals and it’s easy to see as you listen to them dork out on some awesome species. I’m a herper so I really enjoy the reptile episodes but all them are really interesting. I’m also a caver and would love if you could do an episode on the blind cave fish. I’m sure the evolution will be fascinating! Thank you Chris and Angie for the knowledge and passion you share with your listeners!

It has taken me too long to find this amazing podcast and how I have SO many to catch up on! Brian and Angie (congratulations on the PhD (that’s how far behind I am!) deliver every single episode with facts, conservation status, person anecdotes, maternal RNA (you haven’t lost me yet Brian!), evolution, enthusiasm and information about what organizations are doing good work that are worth of attention. When I was a kid, we had a plastic box in our living room which was filled with square cards each one focused on photographs, maps, and facts about a creature. I would spend hours just pouring over these cards and dreaming of what it would be like to meet them. And now we have Wikipedia and this podcast! If you are an animal lover and lifetime learner, you will love this show. Brian and Angie, thank you for making time in your lives to share your knowledge with your listeners - you are inspiring me to find more ways to make a difference through conservation! ~Beth

The Wallerus

Growing up I was always obsessed with animals, I wanted to be a marine biologist or paleontologist.. as I got older, living in New York and being driven toward a field with a, “stable income,” I shifted gears and was drawn away from my childhood dreams. After seeing sperm whales on vacation in the Azores, I searched and came across all creatures podcast with an episode specifically on sperm whales! I really enjoy the presentation, discussions, and information provided about the animals and quickly realized there are many more unique episodes available! My childhood passion was lit aflame again and I get to share my passion with my wife, during our car rides, particularly now as we are in Madeira and I play this podcast every car ride. This podcast inspires me and makes me want to go to Africa or Australia as my next big trip. The hosts are great and the premise is awesome. Will definitely become a Patreon supporter when I get home from vacation! Keep doing what you do!
