In 2018, former BBC journalist Hannah Barnes stumbled on a curious story involving apparent turmoil at an NHS clinic which was being overwhelmed by children described as experiencing “gender distress”.
Consultant psychiatrist David Bell was a governor at the NHS Trust which ran the clinic. He was trying to blow the whistle on serious failings in the care of these children.
