Kaijuvision Radio
Season 2 (episodes 38-now): Brian Scherschel chronologically, critically and academically examines a Godzilla/kaiju/tokusatsu film in each episode. Brian relates the movies to pertinent issues about Japan. Kaijuvision Radio is dedicated to discovering the Japanese National Spirit in Toho tokusatsu films. Kaijuvision Radio’s 3-Part Format: Part 1: A short description (not a summary) of the movie. It’s an analysis tailored to kaiju and tokusatsu movies, to arm the listener with the facts. At last, a way to compare these movies to each other. Part 2: With the facts out of the way, I will analyze and give my opinions on the film. Part 3: A brand new, one-of-a-kind fusion of international affairs and movie analysis. Japan-related topic(s) either brought up by the movie, or going on at the time the movie was released. Topics are historical, political, economic, or cultural. Season 1 (episodes 1-37): It's impossible to talk about Godzilla without talking about Japan, and Japan is just as unique as Godzilla, so we’ll be discussing its history and culture and how it influenced the Godzilla film franchise, which is a great way to find out more about Japan. Godzilla is the most complex and multifaceted kaiju ever created, and it means so many things to many people. Not only is Godzilla a powerful symbol of nuclear weapons and disasters, but most of these movies are an expression of the Japanese national spirit. Brian and co-host Nathan Marchand take a fascinating journey reassessing the Godzilla franchise, and since these movies are often anchored in the time they were released, they tell you what these movies are communicating about Japan.

These pearl clutching negative reviews show which co-host really has the vendetta. Look at the other reviews they wrote. You can tell he sent his friends here. Getting to the podcast content. It is filled with fascinating educational facts about Japan. No other podcast made me appreciate kaiju movies more. Give it a listen!
Hands Down the Best I've Heard

Brian does such SUCH a great job explaining the historical and cultural backgounds of the films. Any other kaiju podcasts I've tried pale in comparison. Great podcast and all-around great guy.
Started off great but...

Hi, I’m Becca, and I’m new to being a podcast listener but I’m not new to Godzilla and Kaiju. I wanted to really like this podcast when I started listening to older episodes a few months ago. It’s very informative, and the host seems very well educated but the increased toxicity, his personal vendetta with his former co-host, and infrequent posting of episodes makes this podcast one that I must discard. I started listening to be informed on films and film history, not expecting to be lectured to on social issues. There are WAY too many podcasts that do that already. When you can finally get back to what this show started out being, I will consider coming back. Until then, I’ll be hitting that subscribe button real quick! Take care, Becca
They love Godzilla: Final Wars!

Some good stuff here, but some things that are too far: They love Godzilla: Final Wars!!!!! Really? A really dull attempt at wha Honda tried in 1968 and they think this is okay? Ugh. That was the death knell. Forget Brian's obsession with Nathan after their fallout and such, this is what did me in. Apparently, the Millennium saga is better than the Heisei. Nope. Nope. Nope! Screw that!
