Adopted/Foster kiddos aren’t valuable because of what we’ve done for them or even despite what they’ve been through. They’ve valuable. Period. No qualifiers.
They aren’t broken. They don’t need to be fixed. They need to be loved, like any child. They need to be guided, disciplined, protected, and provided for like any other child.
Their needs and feelings are just as important and valid as an adult’s. Now. Even as kids. Little voices aren’t any less important, and their feelings aren’t any less real. Our de-humanizing is subconscious. How do we fight this tendency? We talk about it. Replace it with the truth. Grab a cup of coffee and join Kristin Peters and Kathleen as they hash it out.
