Ancient Office Hours

This is an excellent and smart podcast that mixes serious discussion about education and academia with fun anecdotes and sometimes scandalous banter. Lexie is a spectacular interviewer who is clearly disarming to her interviewees, which is certainly a challenging skill to master. She is able to create a safe space that encourages her guests to speak openly. This is remarkable because people who are listening are able to find ways to relate to and perhaps find comfort in the stories and ideas and passions the guests discuss. It’s a great way to learn what professionals are really thinking, something professionals don’t often get to share with the public.

This podcast covers a great range of subjects, but always hews to the study of Classics. Lots of inside knowledge of academia and academic careers. The guests are knowledgeable and always fascinating, and the host has a wealth of knowledge. It is simply a great listen overall. Highly recommended.
