Every Pregnant Person Can Benefit from Pelvic Therapy Pelvic PT Rising

    • Alternative Health

We didn’t think this was a controversial statement, but it seems some explanation is in order.  Yes, we can help anyone who is pregnant.  Even if they don’t have ‘symptoms.’  Or a complaint.  Or something wrong.
There are changes in the body happening daily.  We are the biomechanical experts.  And we actually have the time to work with our patients.  Alleviate fears.  Screen for issues.  Support their pregnancy journey.  Here’s four ways we can help our pregnant PEEPs (yep, it’s an acronym!).
Educate on body changes and what is normal Exercise safely and confidently throughout pregnancy.  Some are scared by what they hear from their OB and think all exercise is dangerous.  Others completely ignore medical advice and continue with their pre-pregnancy exercise plan without any changes.  We can be the bridge to a safe, confident exercise program in pregnancy.Prevention of low back pain, hip pain, pubic symphysis pain and other pregnancy issues.  No, there isn’t a ‘study’ on this.  But common sense – are we able to help optimize the body?  Can that prevent or mitigate pain and symptoms?  We can help outside the pelvic floor as well, in the mid-back, feet, hands or other areas where pain can develop during pregnancy.Prepare for birth.  We can teach relaxation techniques, labor positions, pushing mechanics, perineal massage, breathing.  Many pregnant people don’t get much (if any) birth prep.So what is your ‘ideal’ pregnancy plan for your patients?  Even the ones without symptoms?  How and when do you want to work with them?  Clarify your own Ethos so you can communicate it with your pregnant patients.

About Us

Nicole and Jesse Cozean founded Pelvic PT Rising to provide clinical and business resources to physical therapists to change the way we treat pelvic health.   PelvicSanity Physical Therapy together in 2016.  It grew quickly into one of the largest cash-based physical therapy practices in the country.

Through Pelvic PT Rising, Nicole has created clinical courses (www.pelvicptrising.com/clinical) to help pelvic health providers gain confidence in their skills and provide frameworks to get better patient outcomes.  Together, Jesse and Nicole have helped nearly 200 pelvic practices start and grow through the Pelvic PT Rising Mentorship Program (www.pelvicptrising.com/business) and business courses to change the way pelvic health is administered.
