But most importantly, why it's important for employers to break the stigma when it comes to hiring people on welfare. From those with gaps in their resume, others who may be facing ageism, and the many with a disability who are just as capable to be in the workplace as anyone else. Occasionally we will feature successful entrepreneurs and people in the workplace who may have been unemployed, faced discrimination due to sex, disability, ageism or career gaps and how they overcame adversity.     We recently had the privilege of interviewing Leela Galvez for the Employment Services Show Podcast. Leela is an employment services and recruitment expert, and humanitarian worker who has had the opportunity to work both nationally and overseas. Empowering others has always been her goal through active listening and working with vulnerable customers to meet their goals. Her experience centres around working with customers identified as Aboriginal Australian Peoples, disadvantaged youths, people with Disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse clients. She has transitioned in the employment services sector from a long term unemployed job seeker herself to a Customer Service Officer in Western Australia, a Partnership Manager in Victoria and now a Business Manager in the Northern Territory and other roles within these.     I recently had the honour of interviewing Phil Pollard on The Employment Services Show Podcast. Phil has been in Personal development, training, and coaching as well as employment services combined for over a decade. Phil grew up in Frankston in Victoria, and started off his career driving trucks and worked within the sales area of the interstate and international transport industry for most of his life. He was on the verge of a second divorce, and being broke for a third time when he stopped playing the blame game, and discovered a complete new view of life. He then took action and learned about human behaviour as much as he could, starting with his own business, then training and coaching others to have an extraordinary life without limits.     We recently had the honour of interviewing Angela Dion on the Employment Services Show podcast. Angela is the head of transition to work at MTC Australia and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. She values people being nurtured to fulfill their potential. Angela has worked in the employment services industry since 1995. She initially commenced as a contract trainer where she was delivering employment and soft skills training across Sydney to people that were unemployed. Then moved into case management, followed by roles as business centre manager in the Job Network contract. With an interest in assisting people with disabilities, Angela worked in disability employment with Afford Employment, growing the business from a caseload of under 300 hundred across 3 ESAs to winning additional business and expanding to 5 full and 10 outreach sites across five ESAs Her why is to make a difference to the customers that she serves and to empower and support her staff to do the same. He drives strong organisational performance, particularly in the not-for-profit sector, where he has held a number of senior-level management positions. Since 2014, Ron has led VERTO as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). It’s been a period of significant change and growth, with VERTO now in a strong position both financially and in terms of structure. After having served a prison sentence, he now helps men who have been released from prison turn their life around that through consulting, employment, preparation, and getting them connected to the community. Dean has lived and worked amongst the most privileged and most discriminated in our society. From the heights of property and prestige to the depth of hell battling substance abuse. He's evidence that when supported appropriately people are able to change. I’m excited to interview Dean on my podcast as he knows what is needed to help someone with a prison record into sustainable employment. Dean is currently the founder of Lloyd Criminal Consulting Co and is on a journey to provide Just & equitable access to Systemic change. Collaboratively building and designing a new framework, for Significant Social Impact. He was kind enough to share his wealth of knowledge which I have no doubt will be useful for many people who help ex-offenders into work, as well as any person listening with a prison record.
