Peru's Amazon has 262 amphibian species, 806 birds, 7,372 flowering plants, 700 ferns, 293 mammals, 2,500 butterflies, 697 fish and 180 reptiles. Around 1.5 million people live in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.
