Project Derailed has done it again! And with one of my favorite genres. The spookiness, atmosphere, the story, and the characters are super captivating. This is 100% my jam. A little awkwardness in some character interaction in episode 1 but everyone gets settled in really quick and definitely got me hooked. Excited to see what new stories future seasons bring.

These guys tell a great story every time. The Game Masters do a good job and the players seem to take their parts seriously. NSFW for some content and LOTS of foul language. It’s interesting that one of the players claims to be an atheist yet consistently uses the name of the Lord Jesus as a swear. My question: why not use Buddha, Mohamed or any other number of spiritual figures as the swear? Seems awfully sophomoric, and quite offensive, to me. If you can look past the swearing, these guys really do a good job of being entertaining.

I’m excited to listen to what’s to come! It is a fun TTRPG podcast with a cool rotating cast. The first season is a horror game and it’s awesome!

As Tolstoy put it: “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” As someone who backed The Curse of the House of Rookwood, I have been anxiously looking for examples of people playing. And already, I am wowed by this cast and their awesome Chronicler (who is KILLING IT way more than any first-time DM has a right to!). I feel like I see the game in a new way. My only negatives are occasional differences in audio quality (ie, different characters having occasional “crunchier” audio) and occasional flat moments. However, these are FAR outweighed by an ocean of positives. The rich and interesting family dynamics the players establish are intriguing right from the get-go. Those characters are also super interesting people, and incredibly distinct. The Chronicler does a wonderful job making the curse feel truly inescapable, and hanging a foreboding shadow over play. And yet, there were some great laugh-inducing moments mixed in with the dysfunction and the supernatural. This team came out the gate roaring, and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.
