Groundings
Groundings is a place where organizing, theory, and history come in contact with dialogue, experience, and storytelling. It's where the past meets the present, and political education happens. The title "Groundings" is in honor of the revolutionary educator Walter Rodney, whose concept of "groundings" as a form of radical, political, and communal education inspires the conversations on this podcast. Groundings: we sit, we listen, we talk, we share, and we learn.

Absolutely loved this episode!! I would love if Musa is able to bring Baba Bilal back on to discuss the Dar-Ul-Islam Movement more in-depth. I’ve often heard Dhoruba Bin-Wahad also speak on this Movement. I’m curious to know it’s present state of affairs and what we can do as Black/New Afrikan Muslim (myself included) to revitalize this Movement throughout that masjids nationwide. We must continue to push for Imam Jamil’s release but also make that push known in our local masjids as best we can. Thank you Musa and Baba Bilal!

Helps decolonize my thinking
11/12/2020
As a trans queer person I like to think I understand the intersections of race, gender, mass incarnation, being unhoused, ableism, etc. on a deeper level... however, I also present as a cismale and I am white. Throughout my life I have been working to decolonize my thought processes— through experiences growing up in inner city Philadelphia, reading books and articles, listening to podcasts, and watching films and documentaries— I can say with certainty this podcast has also promoted my thought processes and facilitated discussions I’ve had with others.
