To Exhort, Encourage and Educate Christians on Prayer

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Biblical - Our Critical Need.Part 2a- Introduction. Reason vs Superstition.

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Biblical - Our Critical Need.Part 2a- Introduction. Reason vs Superstition.

In today's episode, we highlight Russia and Rwanda. Both countries have been listening for a while, and we just want to let you know we appreciate your listening. We are grateful to you and wonder at the goodness of God in our midst.

The Puritans often referred to the Bible as a reasonable life, and we are called to a well-thought-out life of God's love and will.

Because I struggled with our life of faith,Hebrews 11:6, the secret counsel of God, (He has not told us everything) Deuteronomy 29:29. Even the heavenly angles are left in awe and wonder by God's wonderful works, 1 Peter 1:12

Given also my aversion to plain superstition, I have needed to ponder the "reasonableness" of the word.

The Holy Spirit leads us to true Christian doctrine, and puts in context both the prescriptive Law and volitional obedience to the weightier things, love, forgiveness, compassion, etc.

(I wrote it more precise than I spoke it! Lol out loud)

Give this episode a listen, and see if I did.

Then we learn from Mary, a practice that brings us blessings and strength as we store up the memories of the people God has privileged us to know. Knowing what a true, profound blessing they are.

"But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart."

    Luke 2:19

"And He went down with them, and came to Nazareth; and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart."

Treasure the blessings of our brothers and sisters in Christ, pray for them, remember what the Almighty has done because they are in our lives, and perhaps remind them from time to time that they are gifts to our souls from our gracious Lord.

    Season 6 What is Prayer? - Biblical - Our Critical Need.Part 1

Uganda and Ukraine are celebrated in Today's episode; I am amazed that every tribe and tongue is being reached for the Kingdom of Christ. Even more exciting is that Uganda and Ukraine joined the podcast early, and despite the troubles in both nations, they have held their respective places since.

    Glory to God.

Welcome to the Free Range Preacher on Prayer on Prayer podcast. Today, we talk about our greatest earthly blessing: being able to talk to the Creator of the universe freely and openly. Our God so loved that He gave His only begotten Son to redeem our souls; we get to talk to Him whenever we need, which is our every-day need.

My friend Ruth poignantly reminded me of the blessing of prayer. Many years ago, her husband discipled me through one of the toughest times in my life; in fact, Monte Kuka was in one of our episodes. Thank you, Ruth, for your humble way of reminding me of our awesome gift of communion with our God and Savior.

As we are besotted with the word of God, He teaches us of Himself and forms the content of our prayers.

We begin with Psalm 19:7-14 and learn the function of the word of God in our lives.

God, through His word, informs us He:

    Restores us.

    Schools us in true wisdom.

    Delights us.

    Enlightens us to true beauty.

    Grows our reverence of Him.

    Shows us sound judgments.

    Displays God's worth.

    Warns us.

    Offers great reward

    Reveals to us our error.

    Guards us from presumptuous sins.

    Our so what?

Prayer is informed through the depth and breadth of God's revealed word.

Praying, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer," is perhaps a worthy way to begin the bulk of our prayers.

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Growth: Discipline to Delight Part 2

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Growth: Discipline to Delight Part 2

We celebrate Madagascar, welcome The Dominican Republic, and then look at part 2 of our Discipline to Delight series on growing our prayer lives.

    We use:

    1 John 2:14

    John 14:23-24

    2 Timothy 3:16

To come to the conclusion, if we don’t take the word of God seriously, we will struggle with God’s command/exhortation to:

“Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.”

    Hebrews 4:16

    Our So What?

Excellencies, Ambassadors for Christ, the more we are resolved to know the word of God and to apply the word of God to our lives,

the more we will be resolved to develop our prayer lives, and the quicker we will experience the abundant life, fulfilling John 17:3 “and this is eternal life that they may know thee the only true God in Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.”

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Growth: Discipline to Delight Part 1

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Growth: Discipline to Delight Part 1

After we acknowledge our Donation link and thank Japan, Sierra Leone, and Hungary for the podcast, we begin a more thorough encouragement of the discipline of prayer, growing us into communion with the God who created, loves, and redeemed us, and that our most blessed time of the day.

    Our "So What:"

In part one of "Discipline to Delight," we learn that our desire for full, consistent communion with God is hindered by our fallen flesh. Our first step in growing is our determination to foster a consistent prayer life.

    Our encouragement comes from:

"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight."

    Proverbs 15:8

"Thus I have beheld Thee in the sanctuary, To see Thy power and Thy glory. 3 Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise Thee. 4 So I will bless Thee as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name. 5 My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. 6 When I remember Thee on my bed, I meditate on Thee in the night watches,"

    Psalm 63:2-6

"And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent."

    John 17:3

Even in our struggles, when we turn to Him, like the prodigal, we find Him running to embrace us, kiss us, and celebrate our sincere discourse with Him.

How to Use "The Foundation Blocks of Biblical Prayer." A Lesson from French Jonah.

How to Use "The Foundation Blocks of Biblical Prayer." A Lesson from French Jonah.

About 2.5 years ago or so, French asked his mom for a Bible, not a kids' Bible, and she, of course, said yes. As he walked away, he told her, emphatically, "And I'm gonna read it!" The amazing part is that he was just starting to learn to read at the time, and he taught himself to read with that Bible! His only motivation for his work was his desire to read the Bible. Thank You, Jesus.

It was fitting that French, whom I affectionately call Baby French, chose Psalm 4 as the psalm he wanted to read and learn about prayer from. This psalm, penned by David, offers some of the most comforting promises in the Holy Writ, providing solace and reassurance in times of need.

"But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him."

    And

"In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For Thou alone, O LORD, dost make me to dwell in safety."

    Psalm 4:3 and 8

French struggles a little with fears, especially at bedtime, so to know…well you can listen to French pray for his and our peace and praise from

    What a blessing!
