    #7 - Celebrating your mistakes (LinkedIn/Splunk)

    #7 - Celebrating your mistakes (LinkedIn/Splunk)

“If there’s something that I really want to do, I figure out a way to get it done. I also knew this was a brand new environment for me, I was still creating my reputation so this was my opportunity if I wanted to make a name for myself.”
Today I am featuring one of my best friend’s sisters, Katia Ratkovich. Katia studied at the University of California, Davis and began her career as a technical recruiter. Due to her passion for connecting with people and helping them grow, she decided to take her career to the next level at LinkedIn where she worked on its University Recruiting team. After working at a large, well-oiled machine of a company, Katia wanted to make her mark in a more ambiguous space. This drive brought her to Splunk where she created its first University Recruitment program that has now gone global!
In this episode, we discuss how to prove yourself in an organization, how your network is your currency, how classical music makes you smarter, and morning routines to optimize your day.

#6 - Getting to the top of Google search results (Intuit/Dropbox)

#6 - Getting to the top of Google search results (Intuit/Dropbox)

“It’s all about asking yourself when you wake up in the morning… do I want to go to work today?”
Today I am featuring my friend, Lauren McGovern. Lauren studied at Northeastern where she had an undeclared major - unsure if she wanted to go down a business route or even become a marine biologist. By trying various roles in the university’s coop program, she discovered marketing which cuts across both due to its mindset of testing, learning, and making decisions. She then went to work for Intuit with me in the Rotational Development Program, learning the ins and outs of search engine optimization aka how to get your pages as the number one result on Google. She’s now taken on a larger role with SEO at Dropbox.
In this episode, we discuss how to know if a role is right for you and how to become a peacock. And no, Lauren has never worked on a farm.Host

#5 - Doing it for we, not just me (Farfetch)

#5 - Doing it for we, not just me (Farfetch)

"He wasn't crying because it was his success and his clothes... it was more that he was walking down for the community. That is so important... my ethnicity is very important to me and I'm proud of it."

Today I am featuring my good friend and neighbor, Aaminah Din. Aaminah was studying to become a lawyer in Scotland then decided to take a dream trip to Paris which changed her career trajectory. Being enthralled in the energy of Fashion Week convinced her to start learning and researching everything she could about the fashion industry. She now works at Farfetch, a leading e-commerce fashion/tech company that went public in September 2018 and was named as one of Fast Company's 50 most innovative companies in 2016. It is one of the fashion industry’s only “unicorns” that provides a platform for consumers to buy luxury fashion from boutiques and brands around the world.

In this episode, we discuss how to visualize your goals, networking tips, and the importance on diversity by “doing it for we, not me.” Aaminah also discusses how DJ Khaled has impacted her morning routine and reminds her to be grateful every single day.

#4 - The secret tip to get your dream job (Uber)

“…Just putting [your goals] down on paper… this is what my resume needs to look like in 3 years, and 5 years…helps people start to shape the way that they need to start moving their career in order to get there.”
Megan Jensen has lived in Japan, Singapore, Canada, Denmark, Mexico, and the US. She’s flown across the world, and now she’s helping to build other modes of transportation technology with Uber. Megan started her career working at Hyundai, then transitioned to a job that she loved at NBC Universal before being recruited to work at Uber. She now works with the Uber scooter team during one of the company’s most exciting years as it prepares for an IPO.
In this episode, we discuss how  writing a resume for your future self can help you reach your career goals, what makes Uber a special company to work for, and how Megan learned to build a massive scooter warehouse by starting with only a pen, paper, and some duct tape.

#3 - Blockchain and Removing Creative Barriers (Intuit/Stanford Business School)

#3 - Blockchain and Removing Creative Barriers (Intuit/Stanford Business School)

"I'm very much drawn to a regret minimization framework. The mindset is, what would you regret more? Trying this and it not working out... or not trying it because you were scared, someone else does it, and they have the success that you should've had for yourself. What would upset you more at the end of the day?"

Ian Panchèvre graduated from Yale University undergrad and was then pre-admitted to both Harvard and Stanford business schools. He chose Stanford where he is studying design thinking, advanced technologies, innovation strategy, and technology entrepreneurship. He jointed Intuit’s Advanced Technology group where he lead its blockchain and distributed ledger technology research. Afterwards, he spent 14 weeks during the summer to travel to Europe on vacation, which soon turned into an entrepreneurial venture helping some of the local artists.

In this episode, we discuss how to remove your personal barriers that prevent you from starting a business or creating something. We’ll also dive into what it’s like to be a part of a blockchain team at a publicly traded company, and how Ian went to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland among the most prestigious world leaders, presidents, and CEOs in the world.

#2 - Cannabis and how to think about big questions (Intuit/Rise Logistics)

"I think people are a little startled that I was potentially on my way to go to rabbinical school to become a rabbi and now I work for a cannabis distribution company. And they're like... what do those things have in common?"
Ben Poretzky graduated from the University of Pennsylvania to join Intuit's Product Management Rotational Program. After 2 years, he decided to travel the world and spend time in Israel where he was studying to become a rabbi. Then after meeting an inspiring entrepreneur, he was convinced to jump back into Product Management at Rise Logistics, a cannabis logistics company.
In this episode, we discuss how to think about big questions and solving problems, building empathy with your teams, giving and getting constructive feedback, working in a startup vs. a corporation, and the quirks of the cannabis industry. Ben also discusses what it was like working closely with Intuit's previous CEO, Brad Smith, who won numerous awards including one of Forbes' Influential American Leaders and Harvard Business Review's Best Performing CEOs in the World.
