Episode 59 - Talking Fall Sorghum Syrup....and Gary’s Recounting of his 379-Mile Canoe Trip in 1974

Episode 59 - Talking Fall Sorghum Syrup....and Gary’s Recounting of his 379-Mile Canoe Trip in 1974

There's always lots going on when Gary and Mark get together. We got to sample some homegrown syrup produced by Dan Cameron made from sorghum. It's a perfect way to celebrate fall. Gary whippeed up some of his homemade buttermilk biscuits and that got him talking. The main part of this episode is the retelling of just some of the adventures Gary and Steve Blizzard had in 1974 when they paddled 379 miles down the Ohio River and up the Kentucky River to Harrodsburg. They were helping the City of Harrodsburg celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the town (Fort Harrod) by Col James Harrord in 1774. As always, it's a great story.

John Delaloye, CEO of Diamond Brand Gear, joins us for Episode 58

We were thrilled to be able to sit down with John Delaloye, CEO of Diamond Brand Gear, to hear about his company and the way they're turning heads. One of the things they're doing is taking old tents and other products they've made over the years and repurposing them into new, very unique pieces of gear. Folks get a product that is sure to turn heads...and we all get to keep the old material from ending up in a landfill.

Professional Hiking Guide Bev MacDowell is our Guest - Episode 56

Professional Hiking Guide Bev MacDowell is our Guest - Episode 56

The Gary & Mark Show was pleased to welcome Bev MacDowell as our guest for this episode. Bev, from Asheville, has a lot going on. She still teaches "cursive" to new students at Carolina Day School where she has worked for over twenty years. And that's just for starters.
At the age where most people are retired, Bev is just hitting her stride. She is a professional hiking guide with the Blue Ridge Hiking Company in Asheville. If that's not enough, she also works with "search and rescue" to help locate and bring home lost hikers, backpackers, and others. To top that off, Bev is a member of and serves as an occasional leader for Carolina Mountain Club hikes. Bev talks about all of that and more with Gary and Mark. And if you go back far enough (and we did) she mentions that she was once a model in Europe. We can believe it.

The Real Thing

Whatever you want to say about these two guys, they are for real. I enjoy their ramblings about Rabbit Island, Gary and Mark Podcast University, getting old (or surviving) and happy hour beer. Next best thing to visiting Mayberry

Cute show

You guys remind me of my favorite comedy podcast Community News with Paul and Sasha. They say they have been friends 27 years and talk about the humor and indignities of getting old. Maybe you should do each other's snows.
