Coming off of an undefeated national title run, most might expect Dawn Staley and South Carolina's women's basketball team to take a slight step back in multiple statistical categories, especially considering the fact that they lost the No. 3 overall pick to the 2024 WNBA Draft in Kamilla Cardoso. However, there's a stronger likelihood that the Gamecocks actually get better in more statistical categories compared to getting worse.

On Monday evening, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer told the local media at a 'Welcome Home' Tour stop in the Palmetto State that LaNorris Sellers was currently the starting quarterback for the Gamecocks coming out of Spring ball. While there are different schools of thought regarding when to name a starter, the move will definitely bring more benefits than consequences to the program.

Joyce Edwards is set to join South Carolina's women's basketball program in just a couple of months, and will only add to the firepower that Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks possess. However, one aspect of her development that will go unnoticed is the multi-sport background Edwards has and how that will lessen the learning curve for her once she gets to campus.

Dawn Staley said on a radio appearance on 107.5 The Game earlier this week that South Carolina women's basketball guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is coming into the offseason with the mentality to push for a starting spot. While that might sound an extremely generic storyline on the face of it, this newfound mentality from Fulwiley could have a positive reach on her teammates at the guard positions and the rest of the Gamecocks as a whole.

The issue, however, is that they currently don't have an opponent as the original opponent backed out for publicly unknown reasons.
