In Psalm 53:5, who are the “they” and “you”? Is there a way to determine who pronouns refer to without knowing the original language?

When the gospel of John refers to the disciple that Jesus loved, is this John? If so, why does he refer to himself this way?



Question 3 (Joshua 2)


On Joshua 2, the two spies stayed in the house of Rahab the prostitute. How was this ok? Clearly they knew ahead of time that she wouldn’t give them away, but it seems strange to drop the prostitute detail but nothing else….like that didn’t really matter?



Question 4 (John 20:23)


What does John 20:23 mean? Do they have the power to decide if people are forgiven by God?

Question 1 (Proverbs 16:1, 33)


Do verses 1–3 in Hebrew use words that are like mirror images back and forth? Is verse 33 saying that God is pleased if we roll the dice and ask Him?


Question 2 (John 8:15–16, 26)


In John 8:15 Jesus tells the Pharisees, “You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge…” Then in verse 26 Jesus says, “ I have much to say about you and much to judge…” What did Jesus mean?


Question 3 (John 8)


In John 8, Jesus responds differently in verses 1–11 than he does in 12–59. Then he gives lots of responses to the Jews and Pharisees (and to the Jews who believed in him) in the rest of the chapter. How do we know when it’s appropriate to debate someone over the gospel and when we shouldn’t “cast our pearls before swine”?

Question 1 (Proverbs 15:3, 29)


There is a seeming contradiction in Proverbs 15. Verse 3 says the eyes of the Lord are in every place, but verse 29 says the eyes of the Lord are far from the wicked.


Question 2 (Numbers 32)


In Numbers 32, it sounds as if Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh had time to build cities before Israel crosses the Jordan. How did they have time to build cities?


Question 3 (John 4:44)


In John 4:44, Jesus says a prophet has no honor in his hometown. Why then does the next verse say that the Galileans welcomed Him?


Question 4 (John 4:11)


If the Samaritan’s are calling Jacob their father, wouldn’t they (Samaritan’s and Jews) both be apart of Israel “Gods chosen people” from the Old Testament? Why do the gospels usually refer to the “Jews” rather than “Israelites”? Is it because back in the day they split from one nation into two—the northern (Israel) and the southern (Judah)?


Question 5 (Numbers 31)


In Numbers 31, Israel is supposed to utterly destroy Midian. I have heard people say they don’t believe in the God of the Bible because of His wiping out of the nations (genocide) without any mercy. How should I answer them in regards to the conquest of the land?


Question 6 (John 3:5)


In John 3:5, why does Jesus say we have to be born of water and the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God?

Question 1 (Numbers 20)


In Numbers 20 God says Aaron will not be allowed to enter the promised land because “you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah.” Was Aaron being punished for Moses’ actions? Why not tell Aaron his sin was making the golden calf at the demand of the people? Or perhaps his sin (and Miriam’s) of speaking against Moses’ leadership? Why does it seem like Aaron is punished for Moses striking the rock? And why pick that sin rather than the many other things he did?


Question 2 (Numbers 22:22)


Why was God angry with Balaam in Num 22:22 when He told him to go with these men the night before?


Question 3 (Luke 22:30)


Luke 22:30 talks about the disciples sitting on thrones judging the 12 tribes. Will Matthias (chosen to replace Judas in Acts 1) join the other 11 disciples in this?


Question 4 (Luke 22:3)


Luke 22:3 says “Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.” Was Judas saved as a disciple? Are these types of possessions possible for those who are saved?

What does Luke 23:28–31 mean?

As we’re reading through the OT, it seems that we’ve read the same pattern a lot—the people grumbled, God got angry and wanted to wipe them out, Moses intervened. Is God always angry at us, and his anger is only abated by the intercessions of Jesus?
