    Break in our Nuts

    Break in our Nuts

Hello, friends! We are taking a break! It's not you, it's us, we promise.

As you all know, we are an indie pod, and both of us have full-time jobs. At the moment, other things beyond those full-time jobs have been draining our time and we just can't deliver a good episode for the next few weeks. We are coming back! In two months! With brand new episodes!

Meanwhile, listen to our previous ones, stay safe, take care of yourself and each other and remember we love you!

As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielienski for our graphic design and the essential workers keeping us safe. And you, our beautiful, brilliant listeners

From trans to eternity: João W. Nery and trans identity as a right in Brazil

Hey, friends! It's Pride Month *everywhere* and Larissa has finally been able to do an episode on the date of something! This week we talk about João W. Nery, trans activist in Brazil and first man to receive gender confirmation in Brazil, and his importance in ensuring the rights of trans people to have access to adequate identification that doesn't misidentify them.

As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe. A special thanks to all who have fought and are fighting for LGBTQI+ rights all over the world.

    Bad translations with Justine Houyaux

    Bad translations with Justine Houyaux

    Hi, friends! Sorry we're late!

This week we had a wonderful guest, translation expert Justine Houyaux! And when we have cool people on the pod, of course, we like to make them play a silly game! So Larissa rounded up a bunch of Brazilian expressions and asked Justine to guess what they meant - Gareth gave his best shot?

The inner workings of Eurovision and Brazilian corruption

The inner workings of Eurovision and Brazilian corruption

Hi, friends! This week we discuss Eurovision and Brazilian corruption (yes, again!). I mean, not as connected things, although there are some parallels? Anyway, hopefully we've exhausted the topic of corruption for the time being. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielisnki for the graphic design and the essential workers for keeping us safe.

Tractorgate and another violent Abolition Day

Tractorgate and another violent Abolition Day

Hi, friends! We're so sorry we were gone last week, with no warning! Totally Larissa's fault!

We hope you are safe and well. This week we continue talking about corruption and other crimes, as police violence continues being awful in Brazil against black people. So, content warning for the final minutes of the episode, ok?

    The Petrobrás of it all

    The Petrobrás of it all

Hi, everyone! Yeah, bit late again, so sorry. This week we have a bit of history, talking about how Petrobrás was founded and has made Brazil 8th in oil production in the world, and how it ends up part of daily politics in Brazil, including the Car Wash operation. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielisnki for the graphic design and the essential workers out there keeping us safe.

Larissa needs to go solo

I really like Larissa and she is honestly talented at summarizing complicated issues in Brazilian politics to an English-speaking audiences.

Gareth, who I’m sure is a lovely friend and great person, is completely extraneous here and adds absolutely nothing.
