THE PHILIP PROBLEM : Information Overload and Weak FAITH.

THE PHILIP PROBLEM : Information Overload and Weak FAITH.

BIBLE STUDY| MIRACLES OF JESUS  FOURTH MIRACLE OF JESUS pt.13 | THE FEEDING OF 5,000 MEN WITH 5 LOAVES OF BREAD AND 2 FISHES| CHIMDI OHAHUNA.

    Mark 6:31-34.

We are still in the study of the fourth miracle of Jesus, the miracle of feeding of the 5000 as rendered by John chapter 6. In this study, we dig further into the Philip mentality. It was indeed a fascinating interaction between Jesus and his disciple, Philip. As a crowd gathered around them, Jesus proved Philip with a question: 'Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?' (John 6:5).

The first challenge Philip had was Information Overload.
Philip's initial response reveals a significant obstacle he faced: 'Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little' (John 6:7). Philip's focus on the overwhelming amount of information—the size of the crowd and the cost of feeding them—paralyzed him.

Like Philip, many of us can become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information available to us. In an age of constant connectivity and information bombardment, it's easy to feel inundated and unable to process it all effectively. This can lead to analysis paralysis, where we become stuck in a cycle of gathering information without taking action.

Secondly, we discovered Philip had weak Faith. Jesus' question to Philip was not merely about practical logistics. It was a test of Philip's faith. Jesus had already performed the miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana (John 2:1-11). Philip had witnessed this firsthand, yet he still struggled to believe that Jesus could provide for the needs of the crowd.

Weak faith is faith that is affected and paralyzed by natural factors, rational thinking, and human limitations. It's faith that doubts God's ability to intervene in the physical realm. In contrast, strong faith, like that of Abraham, trusts in God's promises even when the circumstances seem impossible (Romans 4:19-20).

Every believer need understand the lesson Jesus wants us to attain via this account. Jesus' question to Philip was a lesson in the importance of supernatural faith. He wanted to teach Philip and by extension every Christian that rational thinking alone could not solve the problem. It required a leap of faith—a belief that God could do the impossible.

By involving Andrew in the solution, Jesus demonstrated the power of faith in action. Andrew's suggestion to use a boy's five loaves and two fish was not a practical solution on its own. However, it was an act of faith that opened the door for the miracle. Jesus' lesson to Philip is relevant to every disciple today. When rational thinking overrides the supernatural, it gives birth to weak faith. This weak faith hinders us from partnering with God and experiencing his miracles.

Like Philip, we may have information at our disposal, but it's our faith that will determine whether we step up and allow God to use us as instruments of his power. By trusting in God's ability to work through us, we can overcome the limitations of our human understanding and witness the impossible.

Thirdly, Philip was a timid man, this was seen when some Greek believers desired to see Jesus and they approached Philip requesting to see Him. Rather than Philip approaching Jesus directly, he approached Andrew first as though both of them did not have the same access to Jesus. Philip did this because he was timid and indecisive. He did not know what to do, therefore he met Andrew to handle the matter. John 12:20-22, KJV

Jesus proved Philip so as to make him have faith in God and believe in the supernatural and miracles. Jesus did this because only faith in God and belief in the supernatural can make one bold and not timid. Same applies to every disciple of Jesus who thinks like Philip.

TESTIFYING THE LIGHT: Revelation, Vision, and the Reality of Jesus.

TESTIFYING THE LIGHT: Revelation, Vision, and the Reality of Jesus.

In this episode of Word Explosion'24, we considered another profound concept of testifying which means to attest and how it aids the believer in proving the reality and truth of Jesus Christ. Join us as we explore the biblical passages of John 1:8, 32-33, and John 20:17-18, unraveling the significance of revelation, vision - the importance of seeing Jesus in our lives.

Revelation, as the voice of God, is a divine gift that provides insight into His work and moves. When we receive revelation, we become equipped to attest to God's truth and cannot be convinced otherwise. Vision, on the other hand, is a step-down version of revelation, offering a glimpse of God's size and His plans for our lives. As believers, we must strive for revelation, as visions are not copied and can only be experienced through a personal encounter with God.

As we study and discuss John the Baptist's testimony of the Light, we will learn the importance of seeing Jesus as real and true in our lives. John's bold declaration of Jesus as the Son of God and the Lamb of God serves as a powerful example for us to follow. We must all learn to see Jesus, not just as a historical figure, but as a living, breathing reality in our lives.

In this podcast episode, you will discover:

    1. The significance of attestation in the Christian faith.
    2. The difference between revelation and vision, and why revelation is crucial for our spiritual growth.
    3. John the Baptist's testimony of the Light and the impact it had on his life and ministry.
    4. The importance of seeing Jesus as real and true in our lives and how it affects our ability to boldly talk about Him.
    5. The need to seek revelation and vision in our individual lives and how it enables us to attest to God's work and moves.

Join us for this insightful and thought-provoking episode of Word Explosion '24 as we explore the power of testifying the Light and the importance of seeing Jesus in our lives. Don't miss out on this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Christian faith and grow in your relationship with God.

    Jesus is Lord.

THE PHILIP MENTALITY: A Hindrance to Faith.

THE PHILIP MENTALITY: A Hindrance to Faith.

BIBLE STUDY| MIRACLES OF JESUS SERIES.|THE FOURTH MIRACLE OF JESUS pt.12 | THE FEEDING OF 5,000 MEN WITH 5 LOAVES OF BREAD AND 2 FISHES| CHIMDI OHAHUNA.

    Mark 6:31-34.

In our ongoing exploration of the fourth miracle of Jesus, the feeding of the 5,000 as described in John chapter 6, we considered extensively the perplexing mentality of Philip. This mindset, prevalent among many Christians today, can severely limit our faith and hinder God's work.

As Jesus witnessed a vast crowd approaching, he turned to Philip and posed a question: 'Where shall we buy bread that these may eat?' (John 6:5). This query served as a test of Philip's faith, an opportunity for him to demonstrate his belief that the miracle was possible.

However, Philip's response portrayed a negative attitude: 'Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little' (John 6:7). He focused on the problem rather than the solution, emphasizing the impossibility of feeding such a multitude with limited resources.

Jesus' question was not intended to elicit a calculation of expenses but to gauge Philip's faith. Faith is not about blindly believing in something impossible; it is about taking a step of attempt, believing that God can do something despite the apparent obstacles.

By failing to make an attempt, Philip revealed his lack of faith. He allowed the problem to magnify in his mind, obscuring the potential for a miracle. We uncovered how the Philip mentality can have detrimental consequences on our faith-life. When we focus on problems and impossibilities, we amplify them and make them appear insurmountable. We become paralyzed by doubt and fear, preventing us from taking the necessary steps to experience God's power.

To overcome the Philip mentality, we must:

    1. Shift our focus: Stop dwelling on problems and start focusing on God's ability.

    2. Make an attempt: Take a step of faith, even if it seems small or uncertain.

    3. Trust in God's provision: Believe that God will provide the resources and support we need.

    4. Embrace the possibility: Allow ourselves to believe that God can do the impossible.

By overcoming the Philip mentality, we open ourselves up to the transformative power of faith. We become willing to attempt great things for God, knowing that he will reward our efforts and use them to accomplish his purposes.

LIGHT BEARERS: The Power of Personal Revelation.

LIGHT BEARERS: The Power of Personal Revelation.

WORD EXPLOSION 2024| DAY 8| CONVICTION & CONFIDENCE IN GOD'S WORD| with CHIMDI & FUNKE OHAHUNA.

    John 1: 8 (ABU)

In this episode, we dive into the profound truth that our personal revelation of God determines the extent of our conviction and confidence in proclaiming His word.

We begin by exploring the Biblical concept of 'testifying,' which involves making a statement based on personal knowledge and belief. Our key Scripture examined is the Book of John 1:7-8 and 33, to understand the transformative nature of the Word of God becoming flesh.

Next, we discuss the crucial role of conviction in our witness. We explain that a deep-seated belief in God's word empowers us to declare the word of God boldly, regardless of opposition. If we lack conviction, we risk becoming confounded and unable to stand firm in our faith.

Moreover, we emphasize that our knowledge of who Jesus Christ is forms the foundation for our self-understanding. Through the revelation of Christ's identity, we gain insights into our own purpose and destiny. In 2 Corinthians 3:18, we are exhorted to behold the glory of Christ, which transforms us into His image.

Finally, we highlight the importance of being witnesses of the Light of men—Jesus Christ. We are not called to share mere stories or fictions, but to testify to the reality of Christ's presence and power. This requires a personal conviction that comes from the knowledge and experience of His love and grace.

Now, listen to this illuminating discussion on the transformative power of personal revelation, the significance of conviction, and the essential role we play as witnesses for the glory of God. TO TESTIFY: A Declaration of Faith and Identity.

TO TESTIFY: A Declaration of Faith and Identity.

WORD EXPLOSION 2024| DAY 7| TESTIFY GOD'S WORD| with CHIMDI & FUNKE OHAHUNA.

    John 1: 8 (ABU)

Welcome to another episode of WE'24, where we dive deep into the meaning of to testify and its significance in our conviction of who Jesus is. In the realm of spirituality, the act of testifying holds immense significance. It's not merely a statement of belief but a profound expression of personal experience, conviction, and the desire to attest, prove, and show.

In the Gospel of John, we witness John the Baptist's unwavering testimony about Jesus Christ (John 1:19-27). Despite the temptation to seek recognition, John remained steadfast in his conviction. He declared, 'I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.'

John's integrity was rooted in his understanding of his own identity. He recognized that his purpose was not to exalt himself but to point others to Christ. By doing so, he embodied the true essence of a humble man, confident in the person God had created him to be.

As new creations in Christ, we are not called to testify of ourselves. Our purpose is to reflect the light of Christ (John 1:4). We are not the source of illumination but mere bearers of the true light.

When we focus on exalting Jesus, our own glory diminishes, and we shine brighter. As the Apostle Paul writes, 'Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God' (2 Corinthians 3:5).

Our testimony extends beyond words. It's manifested in our daily actions, choices, and interactions. When we live in integrity, with humility and a desire to serve others, we silently declare the presence of Christ in our lives.

In the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3), their refusal to bow down to an idol was a powerful declaration of their faith. Their integrity and unwavering trust in God ultimately led to their rescue and the glory of God being revealed.

To testify is to make a statement of our belief and personal experience. It's a declaration of our identity in Christ and a commitment to live out the true purpose for which we were created. By following the example of John the Baptist and living a life of integrity, we become beacons of light that point others to the true source of salvation and hope, Christ Jesus.
