BiStitchual is a queer, Canadian crafting podcast brought to you by John and Kelsi. We started this podcast to talk more about queerness, mental health, and disability, both in the fibre arts community and the world at large. We hope to build a community that will not only embrace, but celebrate, uplift, and connect with folks who recognize and relate to these identities and intersections.

Tune in twice a month as we discuss our knitting and crochet projects and stories, talk about being disaster queers, and figure out which pop culture characters we are based on our horoscopes.

The friends you didn’t know you were missing in your life

Always delightful and entertaining, John and Kelsi aren’t afraid to to be vulnerable during their honest conversations about being queer, mental health, and yes, fiber arts. Listening to this podcast feels more like being invited to sit down and catch up with two friends you haven’t seen in a while: the conversation flows naturally from the more silly to serious topics, and back again in a way that only real conversations between friends can, and it feels like a privilege to be invited into the confidences of these two charming individuals. Whether they have a script or not, each episode sounds spontaneous in the best way, and not at all contrived. Both of the hosts come across as endearingly genuine people, and you won’t be alone if you find yourself wishing you could chime in with your own anecdotes during the conversation. This feel-good podcast has been a true bright spot in these recent dark times.

Hangout with the Disaster Queer Fiber Arts pals I always wanted

During these lonely times I’m loving listening to these podcasts. I miss a more relaxed paced, unplanned connection than you get through Zoom or text messages. And I’m queer and I knit and now I want to learn to crochet, because my podfriends crochet. The hosts are friendly and feel present when you listen. This makes me sound borderline stalker-y, so now I’ll never comment again and just listen to this nice podcast.
