    182. Part 3 - Boundaries

    182. Part 3 - Boundaries

Today’s episode is the third part of a three-part series defining the difference between punishment, consequences and boundaries. These three
topics are often misunderstood and can become intertwined. They are, however,
very different. Today we are talking about boundaries.

    Let's break it down:

Punishment – Blame. Focused on the problem.

Consequence – Support. A plan for a new outcome. Focused on solutions.

Boundaries – How I get my own needs met. Also, solution
    focused.

Boundaries is all about taking ownership of my own thoughts, feelings and actions. It is about living in alignment with my truth. Boundaries require radical self-awareness. They are liberating. Boundaries put you in
control of you. Boundaries are between YOU and YOU even when they involve other people. It is not your responsibility to manage other people’s response to your
truth. It is not other people’s responsibility to maintain your boundaries.

Tune in to today’s episode to find out the truth about
    boundaries.

    #181 Part 2 – Effective Consequences

    #181 Part 2 – Effective Consequences

Today’s episode is the second part of a three-part series in
providing more clarity around punishment, consequences and boundaries.

I find that these three things can be wildly misunderstood.

I am offering this series to provide some clarity around how each of these is different. Often, we use these words interchangeably however, each carry a different energy, purpose and impact.

On this episode, we dive into effective consequences.

    Key takeaways:

    · A true consequence is about how one FEELS about
the impact of their choices and actions

    · Effective Consequences are about taking ownership
    of one’s choices and actions

    · Trust must be present to take ownership

    · Effective Consequences focus on solutions rather
    than the problem

    · Effective Consequences create problem solvers

    · Effective Consequences keep self-worth in tact

    · With Effective Consequences the child becomes
    part of the solution

    · Effective Consequences is about solving a
problem without diminishing anyone in the process

    · 3 elements of Effective Consequences are:
    Reflection, Make a plan, Follow-up

    · 3 types of Effective Consequences are: Natural, Logical
    and Problem Solving

    179. Punishment, Consequences, Boundaries OH MY! What’s the Difference?

    179. Punishment, Consequences, Boundaries OH MY! What’s the Difference?

Do you find that the lines between punishment, consequences and boundaries can be blurred and confusing?

    Culturally, we often change words.
However, when the lens in which we look through doesn’t change, they become intertwined. I am offering this three-part series to provide you with more clarity. Through this series you will be invited to open up to new perceptions and insights.

In this episode we will dive into punishment, what it is and
    its impact.

In this episode I talk about how punishment:

    · Creates shame & self-doubt

    · Creates a barrier to decision making

    · Creates perfectionism

    · Erodes self-worth and creates the belief of not
    good enough

    · Creates separation and a “me” vs. “you” dynamic

    · Is used for adult convenience and emotional relief

    · Creates pleasers and controllers- (drama roles)

#177 How do I deal with a negative attitude?

#177 How do I deal with a negative attitude?

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

    — William Shakespeare

Are you surrounded by negative people? Perhaps you have a child who always seems to see from the glass half empty.

I have been getting questions lately about how to deal with other people’s negative attitude. Today,
I share some of the following thoughts on negativity.

What is your relationship to negativity? Did you learn
NOT to be negative? Temperament can play a part in negativity. What you resist, persists and grows bigger. Are you overcompensating for positivity? How can you
manage your energy rather than taking on the energy of others?

Tune in and let’s untangle our resistance to negativity.

The Podcast You Didn’t Think You Needed

I’ve had the honor of working with the host, Diane, inside a couple of her programs and she is amazing. Her content is so relatable for anyone - women, men, parents, professionals, etc. And, she walks the talk! She is a walking billboard for her own work, practicing what she preaches each and everyday. AND seeing results from it!

Healing me

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this podcast. I stumbled across it, and it has honestly changed my life. In this season being a working mom with two small children and just trying to handle everything I often feel on the brink of burnout and on the brink of tears. I barely have time for myself left alone therapy, but my life and perspective is changed when I listen to an episode on Beauty in Behavior. Sometimes I cry at night racked with the guilt of my inadequacy, but I have found hope and light. I listen to each podcast and I take notes to review and to remind myself that I am good enough. I listen to Diane and I gain tool that are not just theoretical but ideas I can actually implement to heal my wounds and be a better mom, but most importantly be a better me. Diane, thank you, you have gained a loyal and forever grateful follower ❤️.
