We created Metaphysical Apothecary as a place to share hidden knowledge and, perhaps, use that knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of our universe and our purpose.

By exploring history's secrets and uncovering lost or hidden knowledge, we can develop a deeper understanding of how to heal our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits.

"Metaphysical" means "outside or beyond the physical realm." An apothecary is a place people visit to obtain the knowledge, supplies, and medicine needed to heal themselves. Healing alleviates suffering and helps us achieve inner and outer peace. Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/scorpio-sisters/support

Magick in the Yard & Garden

Magick in the Yard & Garden

What witch worth their black salt doesn’t love a beautiful garden? I often find myself salivating over images of lush plots of herbs and vegetables bordered by wire corridors heavy with berry vines or climbing sunflowers.

Though this vision isn’t possible for many of us, that doesn’t mean garden and plant magick are out of reach. In this episode, Megan and I explore ways to connect with the natural world using modern tools, tiny gardens, and urbanite cleverness.

Avoiding the Alt-Right Pipeline in Pagan Spaces

Avoiding the Alt-Right Pipeline in Pagan Spaces

Alt-right spaces used to be easy to spot and avoid. Everyone knew to carefully vet evangelical churches and tread lightly in certain states and towns. However, as people leave evangelical spaces to find more fulfilling spiritual paths, they sometimes bring with them bigoted and harmful ideologies.

It’s one of the growing reasons why any new ideas and mysteries we come across need to be carefully scrutinized before we embrace them. Shannon and I love a history mystery as much as the next pagan, but media literacy and critical thinking are crucial to avoid falling into the alt-right pipeline and finding yourself in very scary situations.

Join Shannon and I this week as we lay a foundation for keeping yourself and your fellow witchlings safe in the craft.

    Magick in the Modern Kitchen

    Magick in the Modern Kitchen

Within pagan spaces, there’s often a lot of pressure to make your practice as *aesthetic* as possible. Herbs must be carefully housed in glass bottles and jars, candles must be in vintage-style candlesticks, and your altar should look like it could fit directly into the sets of Mists of Avalon.

Like many conformist views, attempting to adhere to this constantly is just silly. If you love glass jars and aesthetic items, by all means—use them! However, modern witchcraft sometimes requires a modern twist—especially in the kitchen.

Join Shannon and me this week as we examine and share  our personal experiences with how modern appliances, ingredients, and cooking techniques can help bake up some truly powerful spellwork.

    The Magick of Luck

    The Magick of Luck

Luck is a lot like apples, sometimes you have a good bunch—good luck—other times you find yourself with rotten apples—bad luck. But there’s a state beyond that where you have no apples at all and need to go out and get some. In regards to luck, this is a luck-free state that sometimes happens during mental, emotional, physical, and psychic numbness.

Join Megan and I in this episode as we explore the magick and spellcraft practices to manifest luck and abundance from a numb or luck-free state of being.

    The Alchemy of Luck

    The Alchemy of Luck

Luck is a tricky concept, especially when it comes to your magickal practice. Belief in luck—both good and bad—is an ancient concept with a broad lexicon of superstitions, rituals, and traditions. Many of these traditions survive today in the practice of carrying good luck charms and following cultural or familial traditions. The goal is to decrease your bad luck while welcoming in the good.

But do any of these practices have a place in your craft?

Join Shannon and me in our latest episode to learn more about the traditions surrounding luck, the psychological implications of being “lucky” or “unlucky”, and methods for infusing your workings with more serendipitous energy. We also discuss how to avoid luck-based paranoia and the importance of having fun with these traditions.

Avoiding Trolls: Staying Safe While Practicing Witchcraft

Avoiding Trolls: Staying Safe While Practicing Witchcraft

Paganism is on the rise, and that’s worth celebrating. Certain spiritual beliefs are no longer compulsory, giving us the opportunity to build and find joy in practices created just for us. However—like any spiritual practice—there are those intent on spreading misinformation, using surface knowledge to manipulate others, and individuals determined to take any and all spiritual practices to the extreme.

In this episode, Megan and I discuss the difference between healthy spirituality and spiritual psychosis, trollspotting, and how to tell a cult leader from a legitimate spiritual practitioner.
