Heather Sekta, an instructor in Academic Services, and Larry Gauthier, Supervisor of the Chinook Lodge share how their partnership developed around Call to Action #84 and how they were able to bring the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action into the classroom and the upcoming Indigenous Media Speaker Series: Past, Present, Future (links to sessions included)

    Telling Indigenous stories the right way takes time, respect, and understanding. SAIT School of Business Communications and Media Studies programs and Chinook Lodge, Learner and Academic Services presents this 3-part series that tackles the best way to approach Indigenous content while also inspiring both Indigenous and non-Indigenous media producers of the future. Our esteemed speakers, newspaper founder John Lagimodiere, photojournalist Candice Ward, and content writer Stephanie Joe, discuss their own experiences as media professionals and provide their knowledge on how to cover Indigenous stories—sharing where we’ve been; where we are; and where we need to go for true reconciliation in the media.
