Fertilizer 101 Ep. 4: 4R Advocates

TFI's Fertilizer 101

In this episode of "Fertilizer 101," host Morgaine Mertz-Myers welcomes Peyton Harper, Director of Retail & Field Sustainability with TFI, to explore the 4R Advocate Program. Every year, The Fertilizer Institute selects five groups of 4R Advocates. 4R Advocates consist of a farmer and retailer pair who have integrated 4R Nutrient Stewardship into the core of their practices. These pairs demonstrate both the environmental and economic benefits of using the 4Rs – Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time, and Right Place.

With Peyton's deep roots in agriculture, the episode looks at the core principles of the 4Rs. They also discuss how these practices not only optimize crop nutrition but also play a pivotal role in environmental stewardship within the farming community.

Peyton also provides insights into the nomination process for 4R Advocates, the role these individuals play in advancing sustainable farming practices, and the positive impacts of their initiatives on the agriculture sector. Through inspiring stories of advocacy and innovation, Peyton underscores the importance of the 4R program in balancing agricultural productivity with ecological care.
