The Ezra Klein Show
Each Tuesday and Friday, Ezra Klein invites you into a conversation on something that matters. How do we address climate change if the political system fails to act? Has the logic of markets infiltrated too many aspects of our lives? What is the future of the Republican Party? What do psychedelics teach us about consciousness? What does sci-fi understand about our present that we miss? Can our food system be just to humans and animals alike? Unlock full access to New York Times podcasts and explore everything from politics to pop culture. Subscribe today at nytimes.com/podcasts or on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Low keys
17/12/2024
It’s a stimulating show, one I manually refresh on my feed because I look forward to it that much. It’s my last remaining connection to The NY Times. I wish the theme music with the low piano keys had not been replaced with a new and unremarkable jingle. I’m telling myself the suits at the Times ordered that change not Mr. Klein.
Great topics, but Ezra is not a good host

Ezra often asks the most obvious question that is almost always the worst question to ask. Many of his questions are simply rooted being frustrated that his interviewee disagrees with his political stance, which is fine, but from this frustration, he would ask the most thoughtless questions and gets schooled often by his guests. That’s also fine, except that Ezra’s original intuition may not be so wrong, it’s just that he can’t represent it well. He often goes into argument mode and throws childish tantrums in his questioning. And then try to synthesize a thesis that is not earned or justified. I don’t know what this podcast is for to be honest.

I’m on the right side of the aisle. This show is informative, and I appreciate the reading list. It is a refreshing antidote to both the baleful polemicism and snobbish arrogance of (some) other shows. There’s a few people in your reviews complaining that you aren’t visibly angrier at people like me, but I don’t think they’re the majority.
Corporate product

Klein is a smart guy but he works for a corporate entity that serves the interests of its shareholders. The equivocation that contributed to the disastrous 2024 election outcome is always going to be implicit here. This is so even with The Daily. I've switched to nonprofit media (The Guardian) and the Bulwark and Meidas. Klein should abandon ship before he debases himself further like Nate Silver.
