Welcome to the First Olympia United Methodist Church Sermon podcast!
Each week, we will hear the sermon from the previous Sunday. Our pastors Rev. Heather Sparkman and Rev. Alexa Eisenbarth will share a message each week based in scripture and our growing relationship to God.

Sacrifice
This week, we hear a sermon from Pastor Alexa, who continues our Eastertide worship series by preaching on Acts 7: 55-60 and the theme of sacrifice. In her sermon, Pastor Alexa offers the reminder that it is often harder to live our lives as a living sacrifice to God than to claim we’d sacrifice our lives in the name of our faith.
-
Suffering
This week, we hear a sermon from Pastor Alexa who continues our Eastertide worship series by preaching on Psalm 23 and the theme of suffering. In her sermon, Pastor Alexa asks “why does Suffering exist”? And reminds us that God loves and walks with us even in our greatest pain.
-
Salvation
This week, we hear a sermon from Pastor Heather as we continue our Eastertide worship series by preaching on Acts 2: 36-41 and the theme of salvation. In her sermon, Pastor Heather explores several misconceptions about salvation, and invites us to think about salvation in a new way.
-
Belief
Pastor Heather explores what it means to believe in God. Is belief intellectual assent alone, or something deeper?
-
Resurrection (Easter Sunday)
Pastor Heather teaches that the story of resurrection is no fairy tale, but comes from the muck and mire of our real lives.

The Garden: Risking Temptation
This week, we hear a sermon from Pastor Alexa who concludes our Lenten worship series by preaching on the Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus’s last night of prayer. In her sermon, Pastor Alexa shares a story of intense prayer and how we might all put on God’s armor to walk through gauntlets of our own.
