    W3CR | Open Studio #8

Forefront's Web3 Creator Residency has launched its 2nd cohort of Resident Creators: Kabuki (Residency game plan) Nico (Agartha Village Figma) d3mo (yh⁴ project) This is the last Open Studio of Forefront's first W3CR! This Monday, our Resident Creators Nico, Kabuki and d3mo gathered to look back on the past four weeks, ideate on what their ideal Residency would look like and tackle the core  Listen in on the W3CR Open Studio now: We revisited the question of the essential elements of a Creator's ecology, asking the Resident Creators, "what do you absolutely need to enable you to create?" Nico thrives on tasting a variety of different experiences and cultures and surfing the Google search engine to drink up knowledge! Though Nico had never thought of building in public as essential to her ecology, she now sees that it provides an invaluable "sanity check" to help creators sense if they are in touch with the world. Kabuki stresses the importance of IRL interactions to his creator ecology. IRL gatherings hit different than Zoom calls, because the effort one takes to travel, to dress properly (vs dressing from just the shoulders up!), deepens the felt impact/significance of our eventual encounter with others.  d3mo posited that his ideal Residency would include an IRL element, after which an intriguing jam sesh was sparked on why it is so difficult for creators to come together to collaborate. d3mo thought that lack of structure, discipline and time/money were factors. Kabuki believes the coordination nut is hard to crack chiefly because of the lack of a common language and the difficulty of listening selflessly to what is coming out of the collective. (Indeed, you will likely realize that you were never taught how to practice or execute these "skills" that are so germinal to social life.) W3CR | Open Studio #7

Forefront's Web3 Creator Residency has launched its 2nd cohort of Resident Creators: Kabuki (Residency game plan) Nico (Agartha Village Figma) d3mo (yh⁴ project) During the Residency, our Resident Creators will be workshopping their projects, learning and building in public, and sharing their challenges along the way. Each Monday, they'll gather for our weekly Open Studio. Listen in on the W3CR Open Studio now: The Creators recalled those special moments when a creation crosses the line from mere artifice to something with deeper life due to perhaps a subtle transformation.  Kabuki shared a musical analogy - applying reverb! The convolution reverb method involves going into a specific physical space, sweeping sound frequencies through this room and simulating the recorded sound in a virtual recreation of this room. For d3mo, these moments are driven by subtle sound design, which ensures that the visual & and the musical component are not separate, but coherent.  Nico's sessions last week explored Permaculture as a "spiritual science." What does such a characterization mean to Nico and the other Resident Creators? What does the experience of "intuition" have to do with spiritual science? Nico's sessions also inspired a jam sesh on the topic of Nature as an interconnected ecology. What is the analogy of this ecology in a Creator's life? What essential elements or factors must be present in the Resident Creators' "ecology" to enable them to create?  Kabuki stresses the need for limitations, structure and tradition to be present, while Nico emphasizes the need for freedom from these! W3CR | Open Studio #6

Listen in on the W3CR Open Studio now: Last week, Nico's Residency sessions explored the belief systems that motivate creators. What is the higher belief motivating Nico's project? "We want to elevate consciousness," Nico said, conceding this may sound "super cheesy and very L.A."  But how do we make the world a better place?, asks Nico in all seriousness. We can all agree that we want to live in a beautiful, humane environment. This is the common ground that inspires Nico's project which explores technically, how can we live in harmony with Nature?  d3mo shares the unique inspiration behind the name of his project (ytrium and hydrogen, a chemical combination that is not actually possible in our world and would destroy it if they were somehow brought together) and h/ts the book Codex Seraphinianus.  Kabuki's 1st week of Residency emphasizes the importance of performing "due diligence" - immersing oneself in the history and pioneers of a field of art (in this case, generative art) before diving into create oneself. Kabuki shares the astonishing story of how Buckminster Fuller invented "high-frequency sleep" - a method for increasing his productivity and waking hours while reducing the number of hours of sleep required!
