Imagine that the next messiah doesn’t come from religion, but from the tech world. Will his choices be more likely to save humanity—or destroy it? The Madness of Chartrulean is an award-winning fiction podcast that explores this concept using a unique blend of political drama, science fiction, fantasy, and Shakespearean tragedy. Chartrulean, the promised messiah, abandons piety for progress and becomes a shipbuilder instead. He ends a war and becomes the most powerful man on Arcas, ushering in a new technological era that rekindles hope for humanity while also deepening political divides. Chartrulean’s journey is deeply personal as he struggles with identity, leadership, and the weight of his choices. Rich in lore and political intrigue, The Madness of Chartrulean was made to resonate with fans of Game of Thrones, and classic sci-fi stories such as Dune and Foundation. It examines the moral complexities of progress, pushing listeners to think critically about power dynamics and the consequences of leadership. Interesting character development and a lot of moving parts

Although Chartrulean seems classified as a "space opera" or fantasy/sci-fi epic tale, often compared to all kinds of other fantasy and sci-fi tales, (Star Wars, Star Trek, pretty much anything else spacey someone recognizes,) it is, however, novel in its approach. Comparisons are often a stretch, assigning vaguely relatable story elements and declaring similarity. If anything, Chartrulean has much more in common with the classic Japanese animated stories of the 1970's and early 1980's, although through an entirely modern lens. There is a lot to it. There is an unlikely hero, but instead of one dimensionally transforming to the task, this character struggles with increasingly unresolvable complications and his own deterioration. Many characters have their own arcs habits and idiosyncrasies, They are human in their oddness. It is difficult to pick a favorite, although a few certainly come to mind. It's a very human tale, with the major cast bending and twisting to the situations that unfold. Some challenges outside, and some within. The story is driven by concerns of morality, duty, and self doubt, things we deeply understand as human beings. In this way it is quite authentic and interesting. Technically, meticulous work shows in the environment and sounds of things, sometimes silently guiding your attention along or through between spaces. Some of the transitions are particularly clever and interesting, using thoughts, distractions or panning to direct your mind's eye. It's really interesting. Great stuff.
Unquestionably the BEST Sci-fi podcast

The performances are incredible, the sound design is immaculate, and the story is sprawling and three dimensional. Just a gorgeous production all around.

This is the perfect show for anyone who loves sci-fi and is looking for a captivating new world to get excited about. If you like the large scale space-politics of Dune, the social commentary of the Hunger Games, and the moral quandries of the advanced weaponry of Ender's Game, you'll feel right at home with the Madness of Chartrulean. The show manages to portray something entirely original in the sci-fi genre, particularly with its beautifully ethereal score and phenomenal voice acting. Well worth a listen!
