Free Expression Friday: Indie Bookstores, Indie Creators, and Free Expression with Shelly McClone-Carriere (Lion's Tooth)

BookED

Free Expression Friday is an interview series from ABA's American Booksellers for Free Expression celebrating the amazing work of booksellers, organizers, and book people in general fighting for the right to read.

Lion's Tooth is a small, indie bookstore in Milwaukee, WI that specializes in alternative graphic novels and radical nonfiction. The store and the community it's rooted in are independent to the core: Lion's Tooth carries zines and art created by local independent artists as well as specializing in small presses. Philomena Polefrone from ABFE spoke to Shelly McClone-Carriere, one of the founders of Lion's Tooth, about how indie bookstores and indie creators are essential to free expression.
