Was Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes right or wrong to spend so little in NFL free agency?
Shawn joins Carlos from the road this week in Minneapolis. The guys have the Detroit Lions on their minds as they evaluate the moves, or lack thereof, that the front office has made in free agency. Were the Lions good enough to win it all with what they had? Are they adequately preparing for future injuries? How effective of a team can you build through free agency? Listen in as the guys evaluate these questions and more.

How much patience should fans have for Detroit Pistons, MSU, or U-M basketball?
Carlos joins Shawn remotely from Lakeland, Florida this week. Using Carlos' column on the development of Spencer Torkleson as a jumping-off point, the guys talk patience of sports fans as the through line that connects the professional and collegiate sports teams of Michigan. With the historic losing season this year, how much patience should be given to Detroit Pistons' Troy Weaver or Monty Williams? What about MSU's Tom Izzo or U-M's Juwan Howard? Carlos and Shawn review these lingering questions in a broad overview of sports in Michigan. Later in the pod, the guys talk the pivotal importance of cornerbacks in the NFL.

Is it time for Michigan basketball to let Juwan Howard go?
Carlos and Shawn have food on the mind this week after inviting restaurant and dining critic Lyndsay C. Green on to the show to discuss the upcoming "Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 New Restaurants & Dining Experiences" series. You can listen to that interview after the break but first the guys take stock of the state of Michigan basketball's program under the leadership of head coach Juwan Howard. Spoiler alert: it's not going well. With the situation seemingly not improving, does Shawn agree with Carlos that now is the time for U-M hoops to part way with their head coach?

Enjoy the Show
I’m a now-retired native Detroiter who moved to Los Angeles in 1975 at age 22. I still follow the Detroit teams (mainly the Lions now) and enjoy the byplay between the two reporters very much. I have to give special credit to Shawn for the 3-14-2024 episode in which he applauded Minneapolis for producing The Replacements, Husker Du, and Prince. The Replacements are my favorite band and Husker Du is in my top 20. I don’t enjoy Prince as much as I do those bands, but I do recognize his enormous talents as a musician and singer. Anyway, Shawn and Carlos often refer to their audience as “the listener,” so I guess that would be me. Keep it up, guys.
Great Team that Bounce Off One Another Well
Carlos (oil) and Shawn (water) make a great team!! They know their craft, and can still intertwine the bantering. They are very entertaining.
So much potential
The Free Press has so much access yet this podcast gives us so little. Such a great moment in Detroit sports (lions!) but these dudes seem disinterested and give lazy opinions and insight (Maggs HR was against the A’s, Carlos comparing Detroit to Tampa Bay like a clueless out of towner). Detroit Sports deserve a better podcast and I was hoping the free press brand would be better.
