Freedom From Urgency Part 1

Path for Growth with Alex Judd

You can't do it all when you're in a frantic frenzy. You are someone that needs freedom from urgency. You need to go on this path to finding freedom from urgency. In the first of a two-part series on Freedom from Urgency, we cover these three things you need to focus on:

  1. Margin: Leave more time than you think you need for the things that matter. Frenzy is a choice.
  2. Intentionality: Instill a sense of intent. In the absence of intentionality, urgency reigns supreme.
  3. Boundaries: Make sure that there are banks to your river. Boundaries are the price of impact.

Proactive questions to ensure intentionality:

  • What needs to be done?
  • What time do I need to be done?
  • What needs to be accomplished by that time?
  • What will get in our way? How do we address that on the front end?

What a person with boundaries knows:

  • Good things end
  • Leaders have limits
  • Every "yes" is also a "no."

A person who struggles with boundaries should focus on

  • Avoiding making emotional commitments
  • Evaluating your calendar ahead of time
  • Set reasonable expectations
