From South Armagh's 'Bandit Country' to the Battle for Fallujah

The Hipstorians

In this, our first-ever broadcast for The Hipstorians, we talk to the fearless, award-winning reporter Toby Harnden about his adventures over a 25-year career in journalism.

Thrown into the deep end when he found himself in South Armagh's 'Bandit Country' in the mid-1990s, Toby then went on to cover the ferocious Battle for Fallujah before settling in Virginia where he wrote his latest book 'First Casualty: The Untold Story of the CIA Mission to Avenge 9/11'

If journalism really is the first draft of history, then Toby has been there to document some of its biggest recent chapters.
