Been listening for years, one of the best shows that ended to soon without closure.

If their are 3 things I love, they are irreverent humor, history, and making irreverent jokes about history. This podcast is hilarious, and you might just learn something too. It has the endorsement of this historian.
Meh

This used to be a good show, but it started going downhill as soon as they brought in Kristaps (the guy who thinks that bushing back the extra foliage on your vegetable plants is "wacky Soviet pseudo-science") as a co-host and completely tanked right around the Varangian Guard series. Do not recommend.

I recommend this podcast to any fans of history. It’s refreshing to hear a well-researched history podcast that is also funny. Glen and his cohosts do a great job of exploring the given topic. I enjoy the variety of topics that are covered.
Smug and juvenile.

This is like the Beavis and Butthead of history podbasts. Except its not that funny or ironic.
My favorite history podcast

It doesn't matter what the topic is if its from the Lesser Bonapartes its guaranteed to be entertaining
Used to be a great podcast

When Dan co-hosted this show with the equally witty Glen it was great. Despite the occasional inaccuracies, the show was funny and succinct; their series were fantastic and highlighted peoples and events little touched on by most. Together, they seemed to know how to put history together in a narrative format, and while they were hardly Ken Burns they were infinitely more entertaining. They also understood the purpose of the podcast; Dan and Glen were neither Dan Catlin nor the Dollop. They walked the line between entertaining and informative without skipping a beat. And then I managed an episode and a half after the host switch and unsubscribed. And Glen hasn't had a half decent co-host since Dan's departure. I've tried to listen now and again, but terrible. The narrative form of history once subscribed to has fallen apart. Now I listen to hosts attempt to stumble through piles of raw research lacking serious editing and narrative. And there hasn't been a co-host with a sense of humor true to the original line of the podcast. This includes the current one. So time for some retooling, the podcast in the current state can't even be followed, more or less enjoyed. So sad to see what was once a fantastic podcast fall into decline like so many empires.
Great podcast
