Getting SMART with Setting Goals
Goal setting using the SMART Method will allow for accountability as well as helping you be successful and not overwhelm you. It also allows for goals to be realistic. Are you being smart with setting goals? Learn how with guest Brittany Taylor in this episode!
A written goal is an external representation of your inner desires and a constant reminder of what you need to accomplish. When you set your mind to something, you get excited and work like mad, then motivation starts to wane. Having goals that you can focus on and visualize helps you better connect with your inner desires, and gives you the motivational energy you need to work through periods where your focus inevitably starts to wane.
If you never set goals in the first place, how do you find out what you truly want?
When you take time to set goals, you are ensuring that your life is geared towards getting the most out of every moment. There is so much to do and experience in life, but many of the things we want to achieve and experience won’t be handed to us- we must work for it. Goal setting using the SMART Method will allow for accountability as well as helping you be successful and not overwhelm you. It also allows for goals to be realistic. The SMART Method mnemonic stands for:
- Specific goal
- Measurable goal
- Attainable goal
- Recorded goal
- Time based goal
Examples of goals are also given during this video with a detailed explanation of how to make them specific and measurable.
