Consider Doing the Right Thing - and Tip Toe Through the Tulips

Just needed to share that I listened to your podcast today and have to tell you that I played the ukulele in middle school. Your podcast brought back fun memories and an important lesson.
I had just moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and was a new kid in school in 7th grade. I did not know how to play any kind of instrument but always wanted to learn how to play something. This school had a really good ukulele group taught by a really fun teacher. The group was often asked to play for special events because of it's uniqueness. We were even on TV once. I was invited to join the group and learn to play. Yup, in that order. There were probably 40 kids in the group, so I was able to play very softly in the beginning and not really be heard. I learned through practice, making mistakes and some music lessons with the teacher.
Here is the life lesson. I was scared to perform but I did it anyway. I learned through my mistakes. I did not have to be a perfect musician to be able to contribute to a beautiful song. I was scared but brave. I haven't picked up a ukulele since childhood and had forgotten all about that 7th grade experience but I am reminded of how many times that I have done things scared or imperfectly and have had incredibly joyful experiences.
So I will take my stop now and be STILL, BRAVE and JOYFUL as I visualize tip toeing through the tulips.

Thanks, Shira, for another great episode and clearly explaining how getting unSTUCK is "all about me." That normally sounds like an egocentric attitude, however in this case "all about me" is exactly what it is all about. We have absolutely no control over another person's emotions and behaviors. That is not our responsibility. I feel relief knowing that I am responsible only for myself. That's a lot of work all on its own. Thanks again and I look forward to the next episode of getting unSTUCK with you.
